My last build I back to backed Cater 750 comp to Eddy 750. Ran exactly the same. Mine are an older pair , maybe the new ones are different. I've run smaller and "unliked" carbs on many street/strip 11-12 second builds with success. I not saying to buy or not buy. I can tell you I've never had a carb I couldn't make work. Like I've stated before. I run AFBs,Holleys,T-quads. Depends on the application. Doug
I can't say whether you were lucky or not , or are better at tuning carbs than anyone else but from my own personal experience trying to dial one in and with info from someone I trust I'll never buy that specific carb ever again and I'll steer anyone I can away from it, not worth the risk in my opinion. I'd as soon run a holley instead of the performer 750 .

Its not just a moparts thing- A google search will turn up results from enthusiasts of all makes that found the Edelbrock Performer 750cfm carb just does not deliver the goods. When Edelbrock started the Thunder series they skipped over the 750 capacity and made their biggest carb an 800.
Keep old mopars alive.

I love Edelbrock carbs. IN PAIRS.
Mild engines, two 500s. A little raunchy... two 600s.
Total drivability and good top end power....
Yep. I like that too.
750 = crap. I had two and hated them both.

I just rebuilt an eddy today and let me tell you this POS won't work at all! No idle and no amount of adjustment or tunning helps at all. Have rechecked the float adjustment three times to no avail and one of the air-fuel adjusting screws can be screwed all the way in or all the way out and in ur pocket and it changes nothing! I have checked and re-checked everything that can be checked multiple times and it just simply is a total pile!
If the adjustments don't do anything you put it together wrong or it's not installed correctly. It's impossible for a correctly built and installed carb to curb idle with the mixture screws all the way into their seats.

My friend has a '68 Runner that just plain will not work with that 750. It was a stock engine but since the installation of a Comp XE268 the problems with it have been exacerbated. He put it away for the winter with it actually running good and pulling pretty hard after he spent a ton of time cleaning and retuning that pos carb (but lacking the response it should have had still). Yesterday I went over to visit. He fired it up and we took it for a ride. It had no power and would not idle, just like right after the cam installation.
Luckily we tracked down a correct AVS for his car and are waiting for it to come in so he can finally ditch that POS.
Now I need to pin those needles, got to feel that heat Hear my motor screamin while I'm tearin up the street

I have a quick question... Didn't these long ram intakes have the old AFB carbs with the narrow bolt pattern? Does the Eddy have a wide and narrow pattern or would an adapter be needed?
