Edlebrock Carbs, Any good?

Was wondering what your take on these where. I need two for my long ram and can get a real good deal on two used ones...
I have no problem rebuilding them but was wondering how well they worked...Adjustment and and tuning... This is going on an almost stock motor..
Opinions please.............

Yes they are. I've never had any trouble with any of the Carter or Eddy carbs. The Eddy carb on the Ramcharger is about 20 years old. The one on my van is about 10 years old. The ones on my brother's '71 Sebring are about 2 years old - no trouble with them.

This car did not come with the long ram so I am making up stuff to use... Small cam in a 383 with 10=1 comp and headers...
The two he has are the 600cfm ones...

I have to say I like Eddie carbs. And I do have to say the electric choke models are more for stock motors are are lean from the factory.
I have had a 1405 with fuel in it since 1984 on a 340 and am still using the same carb today.
Lastly I have to recomend leaded race gas if your gonna store your car for long periods like I did. This 1405 sat in my garage on my 340 in my car from 1986-2003 always with 110 leaded race gas. I started it on the average or every 8-9 months during those 17 years and it always started.
I tune mine all the time because I take my car nowadays all over the country to drive it. Were at 800' in Cincinnati and Reno NV(have family nearby)and places out west are 6000'+, can't leave it like it is like when were in Cincinnati.
And you all mostly know that I've driven it to top of Pikes Peaks at 14000+' twice so far, it's got to be close(jetting) to make it up that monster mountain.
Yup it's been a good carb to me.
One wrong move....

The calibration on them is hit or miss, mostly miss .
This isn't the first time this has been stated about this carb, for everyone person that has no problems, 3 do, if you want to go and buy one and use it KNOCK YOURSELF OUT.
The Thunder Series is a better carb, it has an adjustable secondary air door, the performer is not adjustable unless you disassemble the carb and either add weight or remove weight from the butterfly plate.
If you go to the tech archives and look for the thread by fast68plymouth on his 383 build you will see that he compared several intakes and carbs on the dyno and the ebrock version of the 750 just flat out did not work well. He tuned it some, yes he knows how to tune a carb, and it just didn't work well at all. He stuck on a Carter 750 AFB , pretty much the same carb , and it was fine, there is just something not right with the calibration that ebroock has these carbs built with.
Considering there are other choices one would be better served using something else.
was that good enough ?

Mild engines, two 500s. A little raunchy... two 600s.
Total drivability and good top end power....

Coming from these guys I would have to say they know their carbs.

Not questioning the skill of the names you dropped but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that a 600 cfm carb is too small for that application ... or maybe it does ??
