I have access to get a 5.0 bigblock stroker crank for a reasonable price. Would this be possible to use this in a monster street pump gas motor or is it way to much stroke. If I could use it does anybody have an idea what rods and piston bore would make a street friendly combination? I have no idea if this is to much stroke or if anyone has used this comb on the street.
Thanks in advance!

Overkill IMO.You need an external oiling system and big heads to make it work.By then you are in aftermarket block territory.

It can be done but not cost effective.A well built 4.15 or 4.25 stroke motor is easier and cheaper and plenty strong.

A 5" crank will phyically fit in a BB but the rods may hit the cam lobes. Also, you'd need 2.2" or smaller rod journels so your rods would clear the rest. (Still have to do some grinding for rod clearance) Must have external oiling as the pickup won't fit in there either. Now...a stock block wouldn't take the horsepower that that much displacement with the correct parts can generate. Normally with a 5" crank you're looking at a raised cam aftermarket block to make it all work.
I'm building a 605 Hemi presently, 4.75" crank. The cam has to be dialed in for the lobes to clear the rods. I'm using a MP siamese Hemi block.
Do yourself a big favor and get the aftermarket block. If I was doing it all over I'd buy a KB aluminum block. Dave

Yes, the price of the crank may be reasonable but building a street engine with it won't be!

If they GIVE the crank to you it'll still cost north of $10K. It would be the most expensive gift you ever received.

I'm almost certain a 5" stroke needs an aftermarket block and most likely a raised cam one!
And as said a external oil system.

If it is REALLY reasonable, you could buy it and re-sell it. Take the profit and get a good quality 4.15 crank, great for an economical street/strip build.

My block is in the machine shop but just looking with the 4.75" installed it looked like a 5" crank would physically fit. I'm not saying you could turn a camshaft too without hiting the lobes. Possibly with Honda sized rod journals it could work. Dave
