just wondering what the correct rear drums would look like for a 71 roadrunner with 10.5" brakes on an 8 3/4? I have one that the outer surface is smooth and one thats finned. also, are there any good aftermarket ones that are pretty close to oem? thanks!

Kevin,

The drum is measured by it's inside diameter and would be 10 inches. It should be smooth - not finned.

Current aftermarket should be smooth, I bought a set of Wagners a number of years back and they are smooth on the outside, now ???

I believe the 10" drums are smooth and the 11" are finned. At least that has been my experience.

looking at ebay and other misc parts stores with pictures, they appear to be smooth. maybe aftermarket is my best bet?

Think that the finned drums were the Heavy Duty brake option from the factory. They have more meat to them, and have the fins for helping to cool the drum. If I could find them, that is what I would use on my 70 B Body with 10x2.5" drums on the back. That was what came on the car.

Looking at my pallet of brakes and whats been on all my 71B, I would agree.

I've been looking at parts store replacement drums and I havn't found a correct looking one yet. One of them I had ordered had CHINA cast into the front face of the drum. It would have been visable through the wheel. This one had a lip around the center hole which my originals don't have. The wheel probably wouldn't bolt up with that lip there. The drums were a lot wider then stock too. I'll be cleaning up my original ones.
