has anyone used cranes kit- 36655-16 to put chevy roller rockers on magnum heads? can any chevy rocker arms be used?i know it goes against everything a mopar purist is for but the cost seems worth it.

I run mag heads on my dirt car, Here is the best way to do it. Keep in mind if you use chevy rocker they are 1.5 ratio and the push rod holes will need grinding. Here is how I done it------------http://www.moparchat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122627

you could modify the heads to use a stud mounted rocker like the edelbrock Magnum heads and then you can order your "chevy" parts from Hughes and pretend they are Mopar pieces....and pay $250....

http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/produ...mp;partid=25423

Or you can go to Ebay and order yourself a set of Chevy rockers and save over $100.

They sure do look the same to me! The hughes pieces even come with "350" etched into them!

The way I see it, running cheaper parts is running cheaper parts. look at how many stroker kits utilize chevy rods for both a price break, AND more clearance inside the block for more stroke.

if anyone has a problem buying "Chevy parts" for your mopar, then pay the extra money and order the parts that Hughes has listed for "Edelbrock Mopar Magnum heads." then you can brag on how you only bought "Mopar" parts

if I were looking at aftermarket roller rockers for magnum heads, I'd take a long hard look at the scorpion performance AMC ones

http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMC-290-304-343-...=item2c62e7b44d

the pedestal mount rockers on the magnums are a direct carryover as the old AMC 290-401 engine rockers.

don't the ones stamped with "350" also have a Mopar Pentastar?

When you decide to quit, THAT is the moment when you would've succeeded..

It's also been said that ford smallblock 1.6 rockers are a direct drop-on. This brings the question has anyone ever tried sing the Ford Motorsports 1.7 rockers? Probably need grinding on the heads for p/r clearance.

I ran the crane conversion with some comp pro magnums in a 1.6 ratio on mag rt heads with stock ls1 valves. The stem heights were a tad short but it worked just fine to over 6k rpm. It will be going back together with +.100" long small chevy valves and the same rocker setup. There was no appreciable guide wear with the setup as I had it.

I know a lot of the Dakota guys will step up to a 1.7 roller rocker on their factory 5.9L magnum engine, as a "cheap" way to get a bigger cam, without the hassle of an actual cam swap. --Remember stock ratio on the Magnum heads are 1.6. most of them are using Harland Sharps, but I don't know if they are sold as a ford part, mopar part, or if HS lists them under each brand with a different catalog number, but secretly use the same part for both.

but for those guys, the 1.7s are basically a bolt on deal that takes the morning to knock out, letting you go cruising after lunch.

I deciphered the Comp kit parts list once & they list the rockers to be Narrow Body & if I remember correctly they fit small chevys with centerbolt valvecovers.

I have the correct applications for each part wrote down somewhere
to do it on a Magnum you use a pushrod for a 64 or 65 289 Ford

one part I think was Magnum only & is listed with the kit only not with the parts like it
