Last year one of my heads sprung a leak and I think it's time to upgrade. I have a stock block 416 with a mechanical cam 265@.050 with 600 lift, 11.25 to 1 compression, factory cast iron heads that flow 271 and 171, a 1 7/8 headers, victor 340 intake and a 950 hp carb. My question is what should i pick up going to a set of ported edelbrocks that flow 299 and 218 and a super victor. My motor made about 515 HP and touqe before the change. Im looking for reduced ET. I can also get a roller cam set up The specs were 260/266 degrees duration at 0.050 and 0.683/0.657 lift but I think that would be a little too much for a stock block. What do you guys think? Thanks Craig

I have a cam motion cam right now. That lift is alot to me too. The car has run the best of 10.43 at 127 but normally runs 10.50-10.60 and 126. It 60' in the 1.38-1.43 range. I am trying to get 10.20 I think with just the heads I would get there. With the cam who knows. Thanks Craig
What does your car weigh?

Basic rule of thumb for HP "POTENTIAL" is (cyl head flow at 28") x .257 x (number of cyls). Many high end builds can exceed this, milder combos will never reach it.

I ended up buying the whole deal and deceided to put a steel crank and set of rods in it and let it buck. I'm kind of on a budget here and have found a scat crank for 640, a K1 for 689 and BPE has them for 629. Any opionions on these cranks? Just looking for a decent product for the best price, just like everyone else. Thanks Craig
All good crank's, but I were to do another smallblock I would go with a BPE just because Rod is a really good and standup guy and has thought his product out.

I might be a little biased but I would get one from BPE. Sorry I couldn't help myself.
