I'm not having any luck finding info on the magnum swap into a b-body. I have an entire 97 ram with the 5.9. I want to swap the motor/trans into the 68 satellite I have.

What do i need for motor mounts?

And how bad is it to wire up the obdII?

I just picked up a 99 model 5.9 last night and was surprised to see that the block has two different motor mount options ( spool type and LA type), so for your application, small block mounts for a b-body should bolt right up . I think.

I think the engine as mentioned should be an easy fit w/ the right mounts...the trans however is going to require some and some and some to get it to fit inside the tunnel. Not sure if you can use the factory x-member either. And of course you'll need a custom drive shaft.

yeah i i had stumbled on a site that showed the magnum motors have the boss for the la and the magnum mounts. So that part is cool.

And the trans tunnel isn't a big deal. Its got a big ol hole any thats gotta be patched.

a few years back, I dropped a 2000 durango 5.9 into my 65 coronet.

I reused my old 727, so can't help with the transmission, or the odbII system.

I had custom lines made local for the ps and a/c to hook into my cars existing stuff.

I did use efi, but not the factory type.

I reused the durango exhaust manifolds and that worked fine. with ps.

use the LA 360 pan, LA 360 motor mounts, or you can use the 318 mounts with a spacer.
Use the LA pan gasket or you have to fix the front and back of the pan to use the magnum 1 piece, as there is too much space for the mag gasket and it will leak.

you will need to find a van ps pump bracket. If you use the regular one from a truck, the ps pump gets tucked under the battery. it is not possible to pull the cap to fill it without taking the battery tray out of the car.

the throttle cable was a bit tricky.
how it attached to the truck was different then how it attaches to at least my car.
I took my old throttle cable and cut the end off. cut the eyelet open and then put the other cable after trimming it on.

I trimmed the square that held it into the firewall, square peg in a round hole type thing, so it seals there for me.

The OBD-2 stuff is a bit of a pain but it is doable. I'm prepping an OBD-2 harness from a 98 dakota to put a 5.2 magnum into my 88 jeep with a stick shift. I don't plan on hooking up the check engine light because it's going to throw all kinds of codes at me! Basically the engine controller has 3 plugs on it. Two of them basically go straight to the engine for sensors and injectors and such, but the third goes into the rest of the main harness and links up to the fuse box and such. When you get to the point of working on it, PM me and I can hook you up with the diagrams I've been working off of.

This is how one looks in a 84 RC I'm plumbed for FI already just change the pump. I'll be using a TBI from a GM truck with a manual trans on my Air-Gap intake

I can get some pics of what all you have to cut off & grind to help make it fit

Pretty easy swap, it basically just bolts in place. This is a picture of Eberg's early B-body. Dig thru the on-line Mopar Action articles and you should find his writeup.

I have some pictures of Magnum swaps in my B-body book but I didn't cover the swap in much detail. Since the swap is so easy there just wasn't much to say.

You just have to decide which way you're going Stock V belt or serpentine drive. there are different things you have to have to do it. With or without A/C etc

You can use a 92 Dak V8 harness & computer to run it 4-5 wires to connect You can have a trans guy put a 3 pin Valve body in your trans & get a speed sensor from AutoMeter that allows you to use your stock speedo so you don't have to go full electronic

Here's how I did my stock tank for an external pump. the original pickup has a notch cut in it so it can support the sender & function as the return
