Sounds like you have late model bumper brackets...

I didnt know there where two types That's what I was looking at. Just seemed the brackets stuck out to far. Do AMD repop the early ones What would be the reason for two types. Thanks in advance

AMD lists them, never used them so I make to claims to how well they work.. The later bumper brackets pushed the bumper away from the body & a rubber filler closed the gap... This was done to conform with industry crash standards..

acually there's 3 types.......

1970 no bumper jack slots
71-2 with jack slots
73-4 with have the 5mph impact bumperettes

the 73-4 use different mounting brackets F/R, plus have a steel crash bar behind the front bumper, as well as a filler strip to cover the increased gap between the body and the bumper, as they were moved outward in 73-4

They do say 70-72 and since it's popular to use the early brackets on late cars to suck the bumpers in tight to the body, plus the fact the fillers are impossible to find.... I'd say it's a safe bet they repoed the early brackets...

Thanks to all, on that note any thoughts on their bumpers Quality. You know I,ve restored 2- Chevelles, But there nothing like Ebodys, There was more changes in 4- years With these than 8- good years with the Chevelles. But I enjoy it, doing a nut and bolt resto

Some people say the repos are good, other say they are junk.. I've never used them as they weren't available when I was building my cars...

Chevelles changed plenty from 64 to 68... 68 to 72 look similar but lots of stuff changed.. 73-4 are another car again...

Part#s on brackets end in 306-307 which are right in service manual and #,s on repo AMD Is it possible that just the ends of this bumper are bent outwards, maybe the bumper is the problem, it is rough looking?

Could be.. Wrong brackets push the whole bumper out about an inch.... Post a picture....
