Getting ready to rebuild my first 4 speed - It was a swap meet grab so I wasn't able to drive it.

I pulled the cover and did a visual inspection before purchase, it look's like it has never been apart and the fluid was free of debris.

Any disasembly tips or things I should check while I am tearing it down that will make deciding what parts need to be replaced easier ?

I found a couple of articles in the magazines but nothing on what to inspect while you are taking it apart. They just replaced everything.

Thanks

buy yourself a REALLY good set of snap ring plyers. i was able to do everything except replace the bushing where the slip yoke slides in, took it to a trans. shop, the guy did it for free.

DEFINITELY get good snap ring pliers, I tried to do without and it was miserable!
