There may be out of normal SPD sequence coding for RR's in that VIN range. research continues. The VIN falls into the range of other cars that have a very late January SPD. Without factory documentation, it's impossible to know the original SPD.
Seeking:
1969 St. Louis plant VINs, SPD, and VONs. Over 2,000 thanks to you!

Does this vin fit in the norm? I understand the normal assy. line problems but the vins should come out on the tags in order. That for the most part is a machine stamping tags. After that who knows what happened. Sorry I don't know all the terms but what is VONs? What day do you think? Thanks

Yes, the VIN fits in the norm.
I think without factory documentation you'll never know the original SPD. If you are just looking for a general time frame to help find date coded parts, 'the last week of January' is probably close enough.
Do you have any vins with a build date from 1-29 to 1-31? If so how close are they? Do you have vins out of date order and if so how many and how far apart by the number of days?
i've got a xxxxx9a222104. thought it was built 2/5/69
That is about 1500 numbers off the 9A219655. Maybe there was a plant shut down or the tag machine was down a couple of days. I don't know. 69CoronetRT what do you think.

I think there may have been some non standard coding about that time but research continues.
I think if you are just trying to get a general SPD from the VIN, then 'end of January' is close enough to find other date coded parts.
I think if you are trying to find an exact SPD date to reproduce a fender tag, you'll need to have factory documents to know for absolute certainty as to what the SPD was.
Hey man do you work with the government? I don't understand what is so bad about sharing the info you have in your data base?

This would be great to know.
If the vins didn't come out of the machine in order then what number on the tag is consistent?
I know 2000 cars isn't a lot compared to how many were built but thats way more then I've seen.
I love to crunch numbers.

The last week of January is all that is needed for date coded part.
There are people here that have registries that have allready flagged this VIN for not having a fender tag. And if you google seach forever 9A217660, perspective buyer will find this thread and know it does not have the original tag.
So Chaaargerb, is your friend trying to make a fender tag, yes or no??

Okay if fender tag Nazi's have to know then yes I am trying to help the new owner make a reproduction tag for his car. If I was trying to hide anything then why would I use the correct VIN number? It's already flagged. So why not use the infomation you have to help make the repo tag as close to correct as possible?
So instead of sharing your knowlege were all going to talk about reproduction fender tags are the end of the world.

Fake tag is worse than none. If you aren't trying to fool someone why worry about having a fake tag made?
I've got one off a 67 Plymouth station wagon I can send him if he just wants a tag on the car.
Let me know!
