I know that 69 roadrunners with air had a blue painted engine, but I could have sworn that the survivor bee I looked at had an orange 383. would it have been blue also? How about for an R/T or GTX with a 440 air combo? thx in advance

Restoring a car to look "only" as good as the factory made it is like getting a boob job for your wife and having the doctor make them two different sizes to seem more natural

Why would a road runner with A/C get a different engine than a Superbee in the same model year ?

Any '69 B body A/C car regardless of transmission, got the 330 horse turquoise. I've come across five 69 B body 383-4 engine assemblies:

A/C auto = Turquoise 899 engine assembly
A/C manual = Turquoise 897 engine assembly

No A/C manual = Orange HP 925 assembly in four speed B bodies (RR/SB/Charger/Satellite/Coronet)

No A/C auto = 926 orange HP assembly in RRs/SBs

No A/C auto Charger = turquoise 900 assembly possibly another number used too.

For the R/Ts and GTX's ....

A/C was only available with the automatics and both assemblies (w and w/o) A/C were orange.

Assembly 916 was HP with auto and A/C. 917 was HP auto without A/C.

Two '69 RR 4-speed A/C cars I know of (owned one of them) that were original/never-rebuilt/unmolested cars had the turquoise 330HP motors. Mine was St.Louis built, don't recall where the other one was built.
This topic has come up before, and there are a couple guys with orange motors in '69s with AC and IIRC 4-speeds, and they were adamant that their cars were original.

The B5 survivor Bee with a/c at Carlisle every year has a turquoise motor. It is a one owner car. Turquoise is correct for Bees and Runners w/ a/c. Is yours a 4 sped by any chance?

Our 69 SE Charger is a factory 383-H Code with air. Turquoise motor with red pie tin that says 383-4 barrel. Its #'s matching and doesn't have HP stamped on the ID pad.

Yep and the dipstick handle is engine color....but that master cylinder is definitely not OE!
