Who likes what, given the choices.
probably forward pattern valve body, no air shift.

I like the 1/4 stick. It's solid and I like being to slam the crap out of it if I want to. I just don't like the feel of the Cheetah.

1/4 Stick faithful here. I use a forward pattern as well.

To me the Cheetah is dead simple, no triggers or additional levers, and the gate is visible. Mine are reverse pattern, but would be just as simple in forward pattern. I also like the button on the handle, which I use for the line-loc. The one in my Duster has probably been there 20 years or so and has never needed any attention.

I like my cheetah and is a reverse pattern but if you aren't careful it will overshift and go right past second gear, Really kills your run.

i have a cheeter i use with the Safe Neutral brake. with gears in a different location, this shifter works great. no slipping past 2nd when you get a little over excited when racing.

I have had my Cheeta for over twenty years. I like that I can go to my local boat supplier and get replacement Morse cables in any length. I have also used it with air and electric shift. Currently have electric which I like better.

I also took it apart so I could use it backwards.

I would if you could get anyone to answer the phone @ PPP!

I have used both T/A Cheetah's & Quarter Sticks in the past, no issues with either.

I'm old school but I like the Cheetah RVB but with the forward gate, no way to go 1-3 on that one.

Had a couple Q sticks over the years, I actually prefer the shifter feel but the component quality is not as durable and I always felt it was a "GM" shifter that was 'adapted' to work for fords and mopars.

Thanks for all the opinions.
I ended up purchasing a Cheetah, with the Summit Pro Shop discount. I'm in the accumulation stage of a new build.

Reverse Pattern Cheetah here:

Took me awile to quit pulling from 1st to 3rd (lost a few rounds becuase of it ) but I like it now that I've learned how to use it.

It's in for the duration, I'm too old to learn new tricks...Again.

Love the Winters shifter. If I remember correctly, the TA seemed to be copied from the Winters design.

Not making shifters that I know of, the Winters is the same shifter, so is the T/A T/A went with a little less complicated linkage arrangement with cable coming in the front of the trans like the like most of the other shifters out there. The original Fairbanks and Winters have the shifter cables come in the rear of the tranny and use a bellcrank mounted on the drivers side rear case ear with a shifter rod going up to the selector arm on the valve body The shifter is a heavy duty industrail truck shifter, not a race only design Winters is still in business I just bought the small parts kit for my next car late last year, 2011. I had a shifter and cable and no hardware. Winters make the Winters quick change circle track race rear ends still
