I bought a mini starter (off of e-bay) from A-1 truck parts, it doesn't fit! It looks like the black plastic peice that shrouds the wire hook-ups is hitting the block and needs to be trimmed
I have the two bolts "started" but the starter isn't sitting down tight and flat like it should. Anyone else have any issues like this with this install?

it may have a plastic cover extention piece that you need to remove from the lower 2 studs in the main body of the starter.

look at the nose to see if it is fully machined so the nose fits the tranz good. some grinding may be needed.

check the bolt flange to see if it may need some grinding for fitment.

whats binding up?

I think the bolt flange is o.k. The two bolts are started, the bolt flange is tight and flush on one side, the outside, I'll call it, toward the kick-down linkage. It looks like the starter is sitting in there crooked? For lack of a better term, the black plastic piece looks like it is hitting the engine block.

should be a cover piece to pry off then remove 2 nuts and the extention piece.

wires go right on the 2 short studs.

look it over carfully,do not force it,it will break if in a bind.

look the nose cone over good to make sure it fits the small ring/hole in the tranz bellhousing.

do you have a dust sheild on it? make sure its not hanging up.
