My fiance bought an 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, and I was wondering if you guys recommended synthetic oil at its first oil change or sticking with conventional for a while to help with break-in/ring seating etc.

I did an oil change on a brand new 2001 Chevy truck. 600 miles. It had a factory magnetic plug. I would get a magnetic plug from the parts store. Amazing the crap it collected.

How many miles you wanting to go?
