Anyone have a 1971 challenger convertible? I am having a problem with the torsion bar that holds the trunklid up. The 71 verts have only one t-bar, not two. It is a larger diameter than the two bar style. My problem is that it holds the trunklid crooked. All of the spring tension is pushing up from the passenger side hinge and this is causing the problem,Even when its closed,it is crooked. Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas on a fix. Thought about fabing up a mount for a standard style spring for the driver side hinge. Was this a problem with all 71 chall. and cuda verts?

This will not make you feel any better, but many Challengers have crooked trunklid fitment. Its not always due to the torsion spring. Sometimes the fix is to tweak the lid by the following:
If the right side sits up higher when closed, place a block of wood on the edge of the trunk opening on the left side and slowly push down the right side. Repeat until both sides sit flush to the quarter panels when closed. I've had to do this on 2 different Challengers to get them to sit right. Good luck.
