I have a 741 8 3/4 in a Duster. It is a 741 case with a 3.23 gear and a clutch style limited slip. The pinion nut came loose & started leaking gear oil. I torqued the nut and it seemed to work for a while but now it is loose again. Does thr 741 use a crush sleeve? I tried to locate one on the internet but could not find one. If I need one, where can I locate one? Gerry

Not an expert but I think only 489 had a crush sleeve. Nut should be torqued to 240 ft. lbs and lock tight it. If the nut isn't overly tall, it could have been replaced with the wrong style of nut. Should be a thick washer under the nut also. There's a good chance that it messed up your seal, so i personally would replace it while there to be safe.

741 did not use crush sleeve.
Maybe your nut is worn oversize and will not stay torqued. Try another nut or at least locktite the old one..
I think torque is like 220 ft lbs on those nuts, how did you measure it?

As stated above 741 does not use a crush sleeve. Take the nut off, pull the yoke, replace the seal, reinstall yoke, get a new nut as they are swedged a little bit to stay on (don't forget the washer), use some red loctite and torque to 240lbs. All done...
