Lot's of variables. If you'd like some details feel free to e-mail me with questions and I'll provide whatever pics I can to help. *BTW, if you'd care to post multiple pics of your engine I (as well as others) could probably help you on some of the details that jump out as questionable.

If you post a few detailed shots of your engine, I think you will be surprised at the help you will get. If you are really interested in finding out if your engine is correct, post the pictures and take notes. You should be able to filter out all the BS.

ScottSmith_Harms Mr Wizzard Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 42,714 Spokane Washington	The dipstick is held in place by a simple looking clip ("J" shaped strap), the strap has a hole at one end and a loop on the other, the adjacent exhaust manifold bolt passes through the clip hole which wraps around the dip stick tube, the bolt then passes through the exhaust manifold flange to retain both to the head. I don't have any clear pics to post at tis time. The clips are available as reproductions.

The exhaust manifolds, oil dip stick tube (not the stick itself) and the bolt & clip that holds it are all painted engine color. The intake area between the carbs was covered when the engines were painted so should be raw aluminum. Also, the heat riser tube (not yet installed in your pic) that goes from the intake to the exhaust manifold was painted engine color as well as the bolts that hold it on, the other tube that extends to the H-pipe was raw steel with phosphate attching bolts. The upper drivers side water pump housing bolt that also would hold the power steering pump bracket should be phosphate as it was added after engine paint went on. You seem to be missing the wire harness holder that attaches to the rear of the outboard drivers side cylinder head (attaches with one bolt and was painted with the engine) It's there to keep the positive battery cable/starter harness off the exhaust manifold. The head to valve cover Nuts & studs were covered when the engine was painted, the stud tips on yours appear to have paint on them, should be raw steel/phosphate. I'd need a closer pic to offer much more.

The coil is not completely visible but the gloss looks a bit to glossy, most I've seen that looked like that one were the ones Year One sells with the incorrect white numbers stamped on them (should be a deep lime green). *Snoop? What did you do? Change the color from (too red) orange to (to light) orange?

Then go to a Mopar delaer and buy some rattle cns of "Street Hemi Orange" and hose it down to get the color right. Thier newest paint is pretty darn accurate for something out of a can. Cheap and easy now that the engine is out. Should take 2-3 cans. Should look something like this pic 4674922-67HemiDriversSide.jpg (141 downloads)

While most FAST racers do make a few modifications that detract from a 100% "OE" appearance, most are simply because it's needed in terms of safety & performance, all other details (to the smallest degree) can be addressed to make them as close as original. This is already being done by at least a couple racers including Dave Dudek. *Starters were not engine color (black can, "as cast" body), niether were transmissions, (autos were bare cast aluminum, 4 speeds bare cast iron)

Ive been wrestling this dipstick for three hours ... I lost internet and power for two of them -- working off a generator for lights worked out well .. Powers back now .. Ok I found throttle cable retainer Unpainted Scotts picture looked like the starter intact .. It is not .. cast color is correct .. Its amazing after loking at A book I got for Xmas on HEMIS -- How many details are incorrect.. ( based on what Ive learned with this project ) My car probably will never be as nice as Daves .. I dont know how he does it ... His stuff is nice .. If anyone has a detail of the drivers side of the engine .. Thatd be great .. Every reference book I have is not clear enough .. Thanks In advance .. I am slowly getting convinced that my repop dipstick from Mancini may not be bent at the right angles OR I have motor mount conflicts .. So much for beefy Poly mounts .. If someones gonna pick the car apart , I dont really care .. too much .. The Fact is that this car will be Fast and fun .. Its gonna get scratched up from tweaking it anyways .. Its a race car .. But i may as well pay attention to detail while I can .. Wish I was going to Norwalk .. This car is my ball and chain , until its done .. I'm currently starting the assembly of my hemi for the 71 convertible and watching this thread. I realize they're are many details but can we assume that these details can be used on both e and b body for 71 ?? Close photo's of detail would be nice and helpful. HPMike master H Joined: May 2005 Posts: 6,446 NJ-USA	Just took a look at the pics I have on file. Mostly stuff that has been covered ad nauseum. I did,however, find one that might be of help to some. In this picture you will find an original dipstick (upper) and a repop (lower). The pictue isn't great, but the original has "fatter" insulation and the color is rather pinkish or light brick red. The repop has thinner insulation and is plain white. Also note how it's bent in a different manner. Good luck with the project, Andy. Can't wait to see it. Will not clear the mounting bolt .. Might need to rebend a big block tube or ? Want to know how to nearly destroy a new Hemi dipstick tube .. Ask me .. Careful radius bends need to be made with a PRO tube bender with posibly sand filled in the tube .. to avoid the smallest dimple .. Any dimples wil l affect how the dipstick slides back in .. Shipping was $ 10 for a 8 # box.. I am very pleased with his service .. and PRomptness .. Thanks I also thought that it was very fairly priced ,, all was in stock ,, no backorders .. I paid 160 for those valve covers and theyll have to do for now.. I plan on modifying them however ..
