Cant i just see one pic - so I make it nicer and then post a pic ..
I didnt put the carbs on backwards or anything ,, But .. its easy to get beat up on this site
Don't be afraid of getting beat up. If you post a few detailed shots of your engine, I think you will be surprised at the help you will get.
If you are really interested in finding out if your engine is correct, post the pictures and take notes. You should be able to filter out all the BS.

Ok snoop, makes sense. 71 GTX, along that line of thinking you might consider removing the parts that don't get painted and adding some more that do. Then go to a Mopar delaer and buy some rattle cns of "Street Hemi Orange" and hose it down to get the color right. Thier newest paint is pretty darn accurate for something out of a can. Cheap and easy now that the engine is out. Should take 2-3 cans. Should look something like this pic

You do realize that your above statement is a bit contradictory right?
While most FAST racers do make a few modifications that detract from a 100% "OE" appearance, most are simply because it's needed in terms of safety & performance, all other details (to the smallest degree) can be addressed to make them as close as original. This is already being done by at least a couple racers including Dave Dudek.
*Starters were not engine color (black can, "as cast" body), niether were transmissions, (autos were bare cast aluminum, 4 speeds bare cast iron)

Unless he has changed them they don't have the 70-71 bump-out for the newer style starter casting.
I couldn't say, I haven't checked into thier accuracey, I just know he sells starter heat shields on his price list.

Ive been wrestling this dipstick for three hours ... I lost internet and power for two of them -- working off a generator for lights worked out well .. Powers back now .. Ok I found throttle cable retainer Unpainted Scotts picture looked like the starter intact .. It is not .. cast color is correct .. Its amazing after loking at A book I got for Xmas on HEMIS -- How many details are incorrect.. ( based on what Ive learned with this project ) My car probably will never be as nice as Daves .. I dont know how he does it ... His stuff is nice .. If anyone has a detail of the drivers side of the engine .. Thatd be great .. Every reference book I have is not clear enough .. Thanks In advance .. I am slowly getting convinced that my repop dipstick from Mancini may not be bent at the right angles OR I have motor mount conflicts .. So much for beefy Poly mounts .. Details , Details , Details ..

I was going to tell you to put in the dipstick before the exhaust and definately before installing. Sorry to hear about your pains buddy. I wish I could be there.. Sorry. It is amazing what people think is correct. One guy does it wrong, but is ademement about it, then more copy and more.. Then there are hundreds saying its correct.. LOL Amazing. Good luck bud.

Thanks Rick .. I tried the dipstick both ways It must be the motor mounts .. You Know what .. If someones gonna pick the car apart , I dont really care .. too much .. The Fact is that this car will be Fast and fun .. Its gonna get scratched up from tweaking it anyways .. Its a race car .. But i may as well pay attention to detail while I can .. Wish I was going to Norwalk .. This car is my ball and chain , until its done .. Really need to run this year at least once ..

It looks real good if I take off my glass, but so does Rosie O'Donnell.

looks looks like im doin Ok .. just some minor details ...
yes i have 69 valve covers ( 71 s next year , im broke )
carbs - studs or bolts ???? its hard to find 5/16ths bolts with free spinning washers ..
how is the dipstick held ?
I paid 160 for those valve covers and theyll have to do for now.. I plan on modifying them however .. And they cleared all the monster valvetrain this winters project is to burn in regular oil fill caps and grommets for the breather and pcv valve ...
