I picked this car up last summer off CL near Chicago. It was basically a Flinstone's mobile when I drug it home on the trailer.

I'll start with a few before pics and update as I go. I've got pretty far along but need to download pics so I can post them. It's going to be a restomod build of sorts. Low and gnarly!

Thanks, Mike

Installing the driver side floor pan. I had to replace from the firewall back to the back seat foot well. It was ALL gone!

New wheels/tires and lowered.......... I made some 3" lowering blocks for the rear and let the torsion bars town in the front to match the stance I was going for.

What do you think??

Thanks guys........ 20's on the rear and 18's on the front.

Going to paint it a metalic Green with flat black from the top of the fenders back to the rear glass area and flat black R/T stripes.

Here is my paint inspiration. The silver will be hot rod flat black though

I don't know, I like the white seats. I think with a little vinyl cleaner and elbow grease they will look like new!

Nice work so far!

Somehow, I missed your post earler, I FEEL YOUR PAIN! LOL. I started with a decent car, still spent over a year getting the body straight and solid. It looks like you are having fun with the project, and that is the important thing. You are after a totally different look than I went for. That is what makes this hobbie great. Same car, different approaches.

Thank you for the kind words and yes......I am having a blast with this car! I havehad stock cars in the past and decided to do more of a custom with this one.

Recently decided to do a late modle 5.7 Hemi conversion. Also going with an electronic 5 speed OD 545RFE. I just got back from Wisconsin last night from picking up the motor. It's gonna get completely torn down and the block painted Hemi Orange.

Got Hemi?

Mike, out of curiosity, what what the original trim level (440, 500, Deluxe ) and color combo of you car? Is it an original 383 four barrel car?

Looking good!

Hey Jeremiah,

Well, I'm not really sure. The fender tag says:

C0908292 WP27 P4W SS1 W

I can only decifer that it's a 500 Coronet 2dr Convertible with Premium package. Any other numbers make sense to you?

Can you post a picture of the fender tag? The 5th digit of the VIN denotes the engine if you care to share that. For instance "G" would be a 383 4-barrel. In our case we have a WP27G

W = Coronet
P = Premium
27 = Convertible
G = 383-4

Mine is an "E" that denotes a 318-2bbl. I found out the rest of the code says it's a yellow car with black top and white upper door color

So what do you guys think about the Scoop? With or with out? If I install it I'm thinking about taking an 1' off of it to make it lay down a little further

Thoughts?

It depends on the look that you are after. With the low stance, and wheel/tire combo, it might look cleaner without the scoop. I went for the "2d day look" like a guy who had owned the car long enough to modify it. Joey Cole built my RO/WO out of metal and for my 60s look, I am very pleased. You are doing an admirable job bringing back a car that likely would have been lost in the near future if you had not come along to save it. My MOPAR engine manual lists 2626 44o convertables built in 66.

Thanks for your kind words ragtop

It's definitely been a BIG job bringing her back to life but well worth the journey. I love the '66 verts. I'm kind of with you on the "sleek" look. That's why I may gut it down so it has a much lower profile........ if I decide to install it.

If you don't mind, can you dig in your book and tell me how many 500 Convertibles were made? Mine is a real 500.......

Nice project. These cars are tough to find parts for, DAMHIK. I second the no hood scoop look for your car. I think the low and clean look would be best. Thats the nice thing about a 500, no body side mouldings in the middle, just along the bottom. What color are you going?

Looks like a cool ride you are building. You should consider the 1966 factory shade of dark metallic green (GG1). It's a really pretty dark green and looks great on B-body cars of that era. I'd also go with the 67 style Hemi scoop like the black car above has, IMO the 68 Hemi scoop only looks "right" on a 68 A-body

Great minds think alike! I'm going with the Dark Emerald Metallic Green with a flat black hood and flat black R/T stripes

I can't find the '66 hood scoop for a decent price so I picked up the Hemi scoop and was going to cut it down but well see.........

Well I've been a busy little boy lately. Got the interior about 75% done. Just need to detail out the dash area and install my '66 Charger Electroluminance gauge cluster

Interior looks nice! Have you cut the floor pan for the 545RFE yet?

Well, I have put the Hemi swap on hold for now and am going with an A518 with Ultra Bell to bolt up to my 383. So no cutting of the floor right now, just modifying the torsion bar cross member

I've been tossing around the idea of doing a 5.7 Hemi conversion but I just hate to loose that old school BB sound so I decided to keep the 383 in her for now.

With that said I did compromise and picked up a Holley Commander 950 Multi-Port EFI for it! Still need to get a manifold and do the injector mods to it but should be on the road with EFI in a couple months

Well, all I needed to complete my EFI system was an intake and fuel rail system...... I very kind member here saw this post and pointed me to an eBay auction and I got the last piece to the puzzle!

An OS Weiand single plane manifold with the fuel rail and injector bung machine work already done! Just need to get it and bolt it all on. Then dive the snot outa her
