IMGTX I Live Here Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 12,234 Looking for a way out of Middl...	You can hit it with 12V and it will be OK. The relay only uses the Negative (Ground) signal created by pushing the horn button to create a positive voltage signal to the horn.

440newport master Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 4,588 St. John's Newfoundland	Yes you can test one on a battery without doing damage. The reason for the relay is not to protect the horn, it's to limit the current going through the horn contact in the steering wheel.
