I see 3 out of the 5 (posts 1, 2, and 5). After you load your picture don't rush and click "Return to Forum." Let it load and take you back itself. It usually loads much better that way. And btw, nice Challenger!

Difficulty in choosing pics that are small enough...

Great Pics!...I'm curious as to the reason, if there's one, why the front spoilers are switched/installed side to side (drivers on pass, Passenger on Drv's) on the AAR Cuda

Those are some ugly azz wheels, the car is cool!

I built this car in the late 80s to handle and went with the wheels because they fit the tires I wanted to use which were Goodyear Eagles at the time.

Nice looking car Challenger 1.... are those rims Cragars (I'm aware they offered similar rims like the Centerlines)... or are they Centerlines? My race rims on my T/A are 16x10 Centerline "X" series; I've run with 255-50-16s (BFG Comp T/A R1 and Hoosier) .. and also currently Hoosier 275-45-16 Hoosier A6. The Centerline X-series are lightweight 2-piece forged aluminum rims intended for road racing.

As for the AAR chin front spoliers being switched side-to-side, I'll ask him if that's actually true. If it is, it may be only for ground clearance. Actually, IMO, they can be an extension towards clipping pylons on an autocross course (fractions of inches are important here just like fractions of seconds).... but, they do tend to keep the image of the car accordingly. (I'm planning to install a full-width front spoiler soon, and that will add some extension towards pylons, but, I'm also doing more recent hi-speed track lapping sessions whereas the full-width front spoiler could possibly do some good for me).

Thanks

I was just kidding you about the wheels, I don't see them very often.
Your car is very cool and I love to see them used hard like yours!

Mine are Centerline X and I went with them because they had the right offset and size for the tires I wanted to run back around 1988 or so. There 15" wheels.
They are very lightweight and strong and I'm too cheap to replace them. When I mess with my steel wheels makes me appreciate the lightweight aluminum wheels.
I'm digging your deep dish wheels!

Yeh... those Centerline X-series are tough wheels and reasonably lightweight. I bought mine ~1986 as I have some other racers who also run these same rims (16x10 with 5" backspacing). Will you be at Monster Mopar Wknd at Indy Sept 22-23? There is a good possibility of an All-Mopar Autocross (medium speed ~45mph) in the works at that event... more info to follow.

drove my junkbox to the top of Pikes Peak here lately, twice!
It kind of sucks because it is now all paved and your'e following a bunch of grandmas to the top. Your car better be tuned to make it to the top, because I didn't haven't enough power to spin the tires in the gravel at the top even though I was super lean with plenty of timing.

Lot's of turns on the way up.

When I went to start the car at 14100+ feet, it sounded like someone stole my spark plugs it spun so fast because there is no air up there.

Top of Pikes Peak again, 2 years earlier. 32 degrees this day and a lot more gravel road to drive on. With it being wet, icey and gravel I don't think my car would have made it without a suregrip rearend. It was slipping and sliding around those gravel turns, it was intense in the thick cloud cover.
Fired up my windshield wipers, first time in 25 years that day. Defrosters were mandatory also so you could see. Coming down the mountain....

Fun to watch the alitimeter go up and down.

Are you aware of the 71 'Cuda (AAR'd) owned by Jess Neal that runs the Pike's Peak Hill Climb every recent year? He's preparing for the race held next week. He's also got a great video.

No I wasn't, that was so fricken cool!!!
After the second time up that mountain for us the wife said we could scratch it off our bucket list?? I don't think so?

I got to drive up that mountain again and again. It is so fricken cool, 156 turns! I looked at my wife and smiled when we reached the top, it really is special! Thanks for links, I really enjoyed watching them.

I didn't see an area to introduce ones self so I thought this was as good a place as any. I'm Dave Dusterberg, I'm the Activities Director for the Indianapolis Region SCCA and I'm a Moparhead.

Here's some pics of Mopars I've built, owned, or been associated with that handle.

This is my most recent racecar. It's a 1996 SOHC Neon Coupe that I built into an SCCA Improved Touring car. I sold it recently so I can start on a Mopar based street fighter project.

This is the last stock car I built for myself. It's a 1978 Dodge Magnum.

I built this Neon for a speed shop I was employed at. It's a genuine 1995 Nitro Yellow-Green ACR. That's me behind the wheel at Nelson Ledges.

This Neon is owned and built by Chad Murfin. He invited me to drive as part of his team at the Nelson Ledges Longest Day 24 hour in 2008 and the Longest Day 12 hour in 2009. Great guy and great little race car.

1973 Charger Rallye 340. This is the first car I really got serious about making handle. It taught me a LOT.
