Hello, has anyone bought the 426 crate hemi yet? Just curious on any results with this motor. http://www.jegs.com/i/Mopar%20Performance/312/P5155513/10002/-1?CT=999 Seems like a decent price.

ZIPPY (a member here with inside knowledge ) did say that the 392 crate engine put out alot more power with the Drag Pack intake (supper tall 4bbl manifold)vs the factory intake, to the tune of almost 60 HP I think, although they were rated the same. I think the 392 was rated at the same 540 hp the 426 is.
For the price it seems like a great deal, but if you're going to pull the trigger on one it might be worth getting it with the Drag Pack intake

I think this particular motor is aimed at the folks with a Charger/Challenger/300 with a 5.7 Hemi. From what I've read, it comes pretty much ready to drop in a newer car and run.

Even cheaper here.... http://www.moparperformanceonline.com/p-1255-mopar-426-hemi-540-horsepower.aspx

I'm considering going this route, but want to hear some first hand experience as well with this motor. That company in the link also has the controller/wiring at the best price I have seen.

A small red flag that seems to be going off in my head is that in both the links there are no reference of the intake manifold (carbureted/fuel injected), driveline accessories (PS, AC, Alternator, etc if you choose to use them), or anything about the computer system and harnesses (if you decide to go EFI). Those alone are going to cost you some big money.

Front end accessories are about $1k (AC,PS,Alt,tensioner, hardware) from Bouchillon Perf. Or it would be cheaper to delete some options there, obviously.

The efi controller and harness is $2,580 from the guys posted above.

I am almost sure the motor comes with the efi intake, billet fuel rails/regulator as pic'd.

Why go with that one, when these are half the price?

I was going to recommend Bouchillon Performance because they have the entire kit and experience for Gen III swaps but their 426 is more expensive (I believe $17k or so with less horsepower and torque).

The first one posted is the new aluminum block *100Lbs lighter*, has about 150 more hp/tq. Also EFI, if one considers that a benefit.

But I agree that one should be considered for someone looking for a carbed GenIII motor.

I bought a 426, 7.0L for a restoration project and I have a lot of problems to find the spare parts need to install it: flywheel, wiring harness, ECU, etc. Does anybody have a company or contact to buy these parts? Thanks a lot, I'm really worry because I've the engine and I couldn't find yet the parts needed.
