You could tap into the blue alt field wire but (as I found out on here) you'd wanna run the choke in series thru one of those white flat domino shaped bakelite OE choke thermostats that mounts on an intake bolt & shuts off the current to the choke coil after it opens otherwise it's a constant voltage drop (draw) on the blue wire ign1 (run) which feeds the coil primary.

The LAST place you want to connect the choke is to the primary wire that feeds the coil.

been using the field wire on the alternator for the electric choke on the eddy carb for about 6 yrs now...amazing...

I didn't say a person couldn't do it.
I prefer not to drag down the power that feeds the coil ...

Myself I dont think it's a big deal for 2 reasons (1) you're not going to need max coil power (such as WOT) while the choke is on and (2) if your voltage drops are minimal it has to come from some switched 12V source so the coil would not be dragged down if the choke is powered from the coil/alt blue wire or from some other point. I agree w prior info that it needs to be shut off once it's open, I'm adding the white bakelite piece

Big difference between aftermarket electric chokes and the factory electric choke assist heaters and controller/timers used on mid seventy’s Mopars and how they are wired. Aftermarket electric chokes require power to keep the choke spring relaxed for the full duration of the run cycle, they have no other source of heat. They pull about 500ma of additional current to whatever circuit they are connected to. Ign. run is the preferred circuit, usually a blue wire at the alternator or ballast resistor. Not the at coil side of the resistor or at the coil. The factory choke heaters pull closer to 2 amps of additional current and used a controller/timer to remove this additional current from the run circuit after about 5 minutes, where crossover heat then maintains the factory choke spring in a relaxed state for the remainder of the run cycle. Should not use a factory controller/timer with any aftermarket electric chokes.
