I have asked this before and was answered but I cant find the post or remember what was said

I came across a NOS carter thermoquad carb. It has been sitting on a shop shelf for over30 years. I believe it may have been for a 73 Dart Sport 340.

The numbers on top say 6-2146
and the side says
6488s
029 4

I am trying to confirm was the application for this carb is?

Also I am putting a 72 340 auto in my car, will this carb work for me?

Can it be used the way it is or does it need to be rebuilt just from sitting?

If it does need a rebuild, any ideas on ballpark costs

Maybe Scott at HARMS can give a ballpark on complete resto??

Thanks for any help

029 4 = 29th day of 1974 assembly date

6488s = 1974 360 automatic trans

Yes it will work fine for you, and probably won't need a rebuild, I'd try it as is first, however if it does need a build:

Any TQ, AVS, AFB, Holley, Single 4 barrel is $399.00 plus shipping for the works. Missing or broken core parts not included.

Thank you for the info. I think I am going to try it like it is and see how it works.
Happy new year!
