It's kind of like Barry Bonds, I was impressed when he was a great hitter, then he started the roids and started blasting the ball over the fence every time he came to bat but I was LESS impressed instead of more impressed

Also N/A is less complicated under the hood, less gadgets to get messed up and cause issues and any thing to make it less complicated and crowded under the hood impresses me esspecially when it is fast

i'm really surprised at all the nitrous haters here. we build engines for class racers, N/A bracket combo's and all kinds of "power adder" combo's. frankly, all of them are impressive in my book when they go out and run the numbers they were designed to run. obviously all of the above mentioned get built specific to specs to be reliable, but the differences in each type can be startling to the uninformed.
i suppose this thread just illustrates the need for more than vanilla. carry on.

First of all I never said I hated nitrous. Its just that when you take a car like Thumpers, Sledgies, and many others on Moparts and thru hard work and getting their hands a little dirty have great running NA cars. They did it the hard way and I know they fell better or should fell better than the guy that slaps on a SYSTEM to get there the easy way.

Sorry I like small tire racing and have seen how fast you can go on lets say a 28-10.5-15. So when a car with 32-16.5-15 rolls up and runs a 9 or 10 sec pass I think what a waste . My car has run 9.55 at 143 na. This is with a 1.43 60 ft so there's some left on the table. I run at 3250lbs on caltracs and 295 drag radials through mufflers just like I drive it on the street, no changes to car to go drag racing. So sorry if I see a big tire car go the same as my car I am not impressed.

Brad..

Some of us use big tire for our own reasons.

Index racing, for example is just as much of a science as running 400hp of NOS.

As Monte has always said, big tires are most likely, slowing you down.. And Fred proved it.

Me, Al Alguire, and Mopar Billy all run too big of a tire for 10.90 cars don't we..

At 2850# plus and 800+ hp and only running 10.90.. Oh, @ 140-155mph.. What a waste right?

I'll take my 5 Wallys any day, and watch impressed at the N2O cars on 10.5 tires.. Love it!!!! Don't Hate It!!!

I did that years ago, then met Gecker, grew up and went Super Class racing. And I'm happy with that..

Yeah cause people that have nitrous on their cars didnt go through any hard work to get the car running....

To answer: Yes, they are quite impressive and to name a few drivers that have impressed me most are Billy Glidden, Jeff Naiser, and Gary White. What Jeff and Billy have done on 10.5 with Nitrous and a clutch is pretty darn impressive in my opinion. Gary White's teams was one of the first I've seen to do well with a boosted nitrous combo. Also, John Carinci's Cuda was quite impressive as well with the Hemi99 combo before he went to the dark side. Do I believe it is as impressive as what some of the Super Stock, Comp, and Pro Stock guys do to make power, not quite, but they are both very impressive feats to me.

It all depends on what size motor, weight of car, small tire big tire makes a car impressive to me. A gutted big block 9 second car on 14x32s does not cut it for me. I ussally pass trailer cars on the way home that are slower than mine while i got the radio on.Hers a little vid of some 8.5 racing no bars and all cars way more than 3150.
If this is so easy why dont some of you guys get in the mix. And mll but one of this cars are small blocks. Not to knock any ones car here but there are only a fhandfull on here that are impressive to me.
http://youtu.be/IYOvB29NFRo

.

A buddy of mine goes 5.40`s in his "street car" and Manny Figueroa goes 5.20`s...... Maybe these boys should come out your way.

Long drive, 2of the cars in that vid run 5.40s but in that vid they are limited to a twin 57 or single 82 nos jet. The car that ran the 60s passes was on a 51 or 53 with and no electronics but a msd digtal 6 plus.

I guess a car that can only run 5.60s on a 200 shot or less at 3150 on a 26 8.5 tire and a small block is not that big of a deal.

nitrous just made sense to me. i wanted to go high 8's and still drive whenever and whearever i want. 493, honest 11 to 1 (pump gas) solid flat tappet ran 9.80 @3400 lbs on motor. now with a 28 n jet ive been 9.11 @147 @ 3400lbs all over the track, this is an easy 8.80 car. not to mention i dropped to a 4.10 and a tight convertor (more streetable). to do this would have been a completely new motor, one you would'nt want to drive on the street. if you think their was a better option i'd like to here it!

Turbo... Just sayin

I think the power some N2O cars put out is impressive, some not so much. Same with turbos and superchargers. One guy at work has a turbo 2.4 Mitsu Evo that puts out over 600 HP to the wheels on pump gas. Is that impressive? What it tells me is boost or nitrous or whatever power adder you want will overcome a lot of shortcommings with any engine. Not to say there isn't a lot of work involved there, it's just at a different level.

My son is going to build a turbo SB but I prefer to make horsepower the old fashioned way, NA. To each their own I say.

To each their own but any car can impress me I guess... as for the nos I will only use it for bracket racing purposes. I dont have the wallet to be trying to go fast as sin lol.

I'm impressed with fast cars. Normally aspired, supercharged, turbo. Anything that is running to it's potential took skill to get it there. My favorite cars are one's that are much faster than they appear to be whether It be a F.A.S.T. car or a car on radials that looks like it might run low 11's but busts off a 9.50. Those kind of cars get my blood churning.

What I don't under stand is why just because you drink Dr. Pepper you think less of me because I drink Coke.

I like nitrous cars. My ride will have a "kit" eventually. If you think that nitrous is "cheating" then don't race against nitrous cars. If you are against nitrous for being "too" easy, then why don't you bolt on a kit and prove your point?

I can appreciate any Mopar that is fast. N/A or not.

I dont agree with you .... everyone has THEIR opinion
so why would it be ignorance.... plus you word game
on power adder... you and the rest of us know what
is mean by a power adder

Mike......He said "Anybody can go out and spend 400.00 and bolt on a SYSTEM, open a valve, and push a button. What is the skill involved with this.".........That is a VERY generic, ignorant statement.......That would be just as silly as saying "Anybody can go out and spend $30 on a dremel, port their own heads and do a cam swap and floor it"........I see no difference.... He's insinuating that it doesn't take very much knowledge to run a nitrous car when he, obviously, hasn't tried it or even tried to understand what's really involved........that's ignorance.....

On the Power Adder statement.........It's ALL the same........What's an SS/AH motor cost???.....I'd guess 60-75K??? for 900HP?????? what about a Comp motor?? Pro Stock motor??? Sure, I'm NOT IGNORANT enough to not appreciate what it takes to build that kind of motor, but you don't see too many people lining up to buy something like that......If you look at it as Dollar spent per HP, then it's pretty "ignorant" to build a naturally aspirated motor......

I can appreciate what it takes to run at the front of the pack with ANY kind of combo ....I'm sure not going to knock it or say it doesn't impress me...

If you can't handle the truth, you're living a lie.......

No they do not. All it takes is a bottle and 2-300 shot and not much else. Only cool power adder is boost.
