I was hoping to see Pro Systems come out with an SV1 for us little guys under 700hp...I have some of my own testing to do this summer on my 408 W2 motor and I have two carbs now, a QF750 annular & a Proform 850. The 850 had previously put the car in the 10's so that's what's going back on first, but I wish I had an SV1 to test on this motor. I think it will like more carb based on what these heads flowed.

It was a Holley 950 that didn't have screw in air bleeds...

The initial release of the 80496 950 didn't have screw-in bleeds, but was still listed as an "HP" carb. They added that feature (along w/ some other things) in their -1 upgrade a few years later. I could still find both versions available when I bought my 80496-1 in the late '90s.

OK, I just assumed it wasn't an HP. Jim

I doubt you'll move a ton of air volume through those RHS heads unless you move the pinch over...so with that I'd settle on a 1000HP or the new Ultra 850HP. The new carb has so many great features, this is the carb I would run.

I agree with others though, if you can test a few borrowed carbs AND take the time to tune them at the track (not always possible) then you might be able to make a better educated guess.
I've used the 1000HP on many different engine builds as well as the 950HP and IMO you cannot go wrong with them...just that the new carbs have so many upgrades for around 100.00 more it seems worth it to go that route.
Good luck with it!!
Brian

While I agree in part with Don that it seems that you cannot overcarb these 4" crank motors, I also had the same thoughts Brian about the RHS heads and air volume. That said, Wallace says somewhere between 896 and 1017 cfm with me guessing at the VE.

I could borrow a carb or 2, but getting them sorted out to our combo would be the problem. Test and Tunes are a crap shoot this time of year here and we don't want to test at a bracket race.

I'm going to call Ken Jones and Bigs this week and see what they recommend and then maybe just flip a coin and take the plunge.

THANK YOU all for your input...interesting reading.
