If your going to use the block, before you invest in a PROFESSIONAL WELDMENT,.....have it magnifluxed(crack inspected) by a reputable HP machine shop,....evaluated,and repaired properly, if it's salvagable .....no backyard, or "snake oil" treatment will repair that problem

it's junk...good 440 blocks are not that hard to find. do yourself a favor and don't mess with a cracked/repaired iron block.

Thanks for the info, the only problem is this motor is newly rebuilt, the idiot machine shop did not check for this possible problem (chevy guy).

That would get me wondering what else the so called "machine shop" missed. Get a good block and be done with it.
