O.K. I have a 69' Road Runner no power steering or no power brakes (drums front and rear). I am thinking about upgrading my brakes to (disc front drums rear) or maybe all wheels to disc. Maybe you guys have stuck with manual drum brakes? I have never driven a car with manual drum brakes, but from what I have heard they suck? Please give me your input on this subject and what upgrade kits you have used or know of that are relatively bolt on job or something that can be accomplished at home with good directions . Thanks, Jay

The large man. drum brakes have always worked good 4 me in dry condition's, rain is another story.
As far as a disc swap I would look at 72-74 e body, 73-76 a body disc as they are not that hard to find and you can swap over the caliper brackets and use the later larger rotors.

My '70 Duster has manual disk brakes and they are awesome...its just the setup off a '74 Duster. Look in the tech archive on www.moparaction.com for the parts list

I had a 4 wheel drum PB car. The brakes had good initial bite but weren't very even left/right and front rear. Also they weren't good at speed.

Its mostly the fronts that need upgrade. There are lots of ways to do it. Check out Mopar Action Tech pages. You'll find a step by step guide on how to use standard MOPAR front disc brakes from later years. Master Power Brakes also sells complete kits with stock type parts. Either setup should dramatically improve braking performance.

Much bigger front brakes and rear discs are available also depending on how far you want to go.

Staying with manual brakes will work with the upgrade - just make sure you keep master cylinder diameter on the small side so pedal effort isn't too high... or upgrade to power if you prefer.

Most likley you'll need to change the front spindles so the level of difficulty is similar to a front end rebuild.

Thanks for the quick responses and the help guys. I'm sure it won't be my last question on here as I have a long way to go on this old girl. Jay
