Well it was stated above that there are mopar drag racers than circle track this is true. As I stated above - anybody can drive a straight line with about anything you own and be competitive. It does cost more and take a lot more talent to own and drive a dirt tracker and be competitive.
These statements alone are enough to show how little you know or think of drag racers. Using your logic, how much skill would it take to go around 30 or so laps bumping into walls/other cars, and get lucky enough to get to the front? I helped out on several circle track dirt cars, none of which were high dollar or had talented drivers, but were still very competitive.
Cost more to circle track race????? On ANY given weekend I see drag race setups worth MUCH more than most circle track racers would think of spending on their cars, just to try and be competitive.
More talent to circle track race???? WOW - sounds like some of the demo derby runner-up drivers I have talked to. Drag racers get just one chance to get EVERYTHING right, not 30+ second chances. All forms of racing take special talents.
I generally love this forum for ALL of the racing type inputs, but yours is uninformed and of little or NO contribution to any race forum.
Personally, with that attitude, if you found another forum to express your views, I would be thankful.

You can go entry level drag racing with a lot less investment than you can entry level dirt tracking. I guess to make you happy that is where I was coming from. You can build into it what you want to & and spend what you want to or take any street car and be competitive in a drag race. Not so with a dirt tracker. You get your drag car built you can leave it sit between races other than a little general maintenance. With your dirt trackers you had better be ready to spend some time fixing between shows. Been in this game since the early 60's. so don't tell me I don't know what I am talking about. If you are consistent with good reaction times and the car is consistent. You are right it does take talent to drive a drag car and be a consistent winner but on a given day anybody that likes the hurry up and wait game can run what you brung can play at the drag strip. Bracket racing was developed for just that reason. So anybody can play at any 'income' level vehicle level, or competition level. Been around this stuff since you could get by welding in some drives shafts for a cage and get by with it, use baling wire and tarp straps to hold things together. And before bracket racing.. Can see you haven't been much around the dirt track or dirt track cars and or worked on them day after day. To each there own.

Splitting hairs now? It doesnt matter what kind of racing, make the question about the engine, trans or any particular about it and it wont get moved. This is a Tech forum for race cars. They move stuff not directly related.

a few questions for you 1. have ever seen a legit tech question that wasn't answered? 2. when you are a track talking to fellow racers do you go to a different area to wish them a happy birthday or talk about anything other than racing? 3. do you understand you have lost a lot of good people by this hard nosed attitude? 4. how easy is it just to skip over threads you don't care for or know it's not tech?
with Quick on this, couldn't have said it better.

Alright guys sorry i brought it up. It did get out of hand and I apologize for it. Point being is that I have seen post on drag racing stay and the same type on Nascar or ARCA shifted to the General section. IE: NHRA qualifying stays here. And posters either rant or raves about it and puts in their own . Qualifying type or winning type posts on Cup or the like gets moved to the General section. Another thing is all the new bests or I won a race posts in drag racing stay here. Is this a tech forum or a bragging rights forum for new best drag race times? Sure it is nice to have a quick/fast car but without consistency good reaction times along with consistency of the car and speed wins will be few and far between. Speed isn't always the winner. You can have the fastest car out there and now win a round. Same on the circle that the fastest cars may not even get into the top 10 and it is rare that the pole sitter wins the race here either.

Maybe there are a lot more stock car racers, truck puller's,sand dune racer's,boat racer's etc.. and RACER'S of all walk's of life that would join in if they felt we were interested in what they do and what they race if they weren't tossed off into the personal problems of the General section to die a miserable death,, I personally grew up around dirt track racing and truck pulling and I still have a place in my heart for them, especially on engine building tech and the wonderful people that do it

Man you treed me. Oh some circle track racer, that took a few too many to the head, couldn't begin to understand that.
I have race in many different forms of racing. Autocross SOLO 2 was my first. Like drag racing you had only one shot to get it right. But, how hard can it be you are by yourself and there are just cones. No wall or cars to bump into. Circle track and indurance were fun also. If you were speaking about the street bracket class in drag racing I might could have some agreement to your comments. But, all out ten inch tire drag racing is where it is at baby. We drive looking through the door glasses too sometimes. And guess what we don't have that 10" wide tire on the front with sway bars to rely on. It takes pure balls and technique to get it done. Maybe your post getting moved has nothing to do with other venues of racing but, your egotistical remarks towards drag racing and the abilities of those of us who do it may have something to do with it. From your remarks about us I would imagine you wouldn't make a good splattered bug on a windsheild of a drag car.

Gimme a break, MoPar 4 life. With these entry level dirt track deal you can get some old hammered up Omni and race it for a forty dollar purse....can't race anywhere for less. We've done that, too...see the pic.
In addition to the drag thing, which I've been doing since the sixties as well, I also spend a lot of time with dirt trackers. Even spent some time behind the wheel of a late model Dart back in the day. A lot of them are good guys, but it's more like the WWF than anything else. Arguing, fighting...it's like a soap opera. You also seem to think that working on your car to repair it as good as it was last week somehow makes one a "racer".
Just out of curiosity...you make the statement that it takes more talent to race a dirt car. Try going 8 rounds where every race is decided by miliseconds, and you're gone if you screw up.
If you want a site where all you hero worshiping NASCAR fans sit around and talk about what type of underwear that some NASCAR driver wears start your own. This is much more a hands on racer site, and there isn't many hands on Mopar circle racers. I think you'd be surprised at just how few there are. NASCAR has a lot of spectators, but most of them don't know a spark plug from a steering well, and couldn't care less.
By the way....What exactly to YOU race?
