Why then does it seem that any NASCAR, ARCA, Dirt Track, or any other racing but Drag racing is almost prohibited to post on the"Race Only" forum. There are a lot of dirt trackers and mud runners out there, there are a lot of NASCAR fans and non fans out there. Racing is racing whether it be drag, dirt, asphalt, mud etc.
Nothing against drag racing did it for many years but unless you are a participant a family member it is much like watching paint dry. Or even if you are a participant it is a hurry up and wait game.

That's not entirely true. You can also post "prayers" and "birthday wishes" here too.

I have been wondering why so many race related posts get moved to general?

I didn't realize it was drag racing only?

You're absolutely right. I referred to it as a drag racing forum in another post, and for that I apologize.

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

My point being is that there are other types of auto/truck racing than drag racing. In fact dirt tracking and NASCAR undoubtedly on a week to week basis draws many times more spectators and the local dirt tracks draw more participants on a given night giving the spectators more of a show for the money.. Good part of drag racing is that just about anybody can drive a straight line and use about any vehicle that they own and on a given day be competitive but not every one can race and be competitive on the dirt. Still don't answer my question about the race only forum being gear only to drag racing.

the simple answer to your question is because Gary was a drag racer...

I do agree all forms of racing could/should be discussed or have their own separate forum.

That being the case change it to Unlawful' drag race only. Seems to me though before it was changed to Unlawful's it was just the race forum and had the same standards. Been a while but seems I remember it that way.

altho this section was primarily directed towards drag racing I personally feel that the Unlawfuls Race Only section should be open to all form's of racing, everything from drag racing to pulling truck's and everything in between,we can all learn from other's experiences regardless of the type of racing done.jmo

I specifically like it the way it is . . . .

Why change, when not necessary

But I will say there are too many posts that get moved to another section and die off as some don't come to the race section.

Some informational or inquiring post from other racing modes get kicked into the general forum never to be seen again. They deserve to get some attention to their inquiries too, many here don't frequent the general section.

Yes there are but not race oriented. There are many things in different racing venues that compliment each other. Why not help each other if we can. Or maybe the consensus is "IF YOU DON'T DRAG RACE YOU AIN'T ----"

Ever since some racers started crying about it being STRICTLY race related..............

it has gotten inconsistent in manner.

The fellowship of the racers that post here is ignored and a lot of "human interest" but race related stuff is shoved out to General.

It was better when Gary Davis first got it started.

I agree also. I'm sure the moderators have a very difficult time deciphering what should and shouldn't be on any of the forums. Although I agree with the above comment, keep in mind that this is a Mopar sight, and that being said, I would venture to guess that of all types of racing associated with Mopars and Mopar guys, 75% is drag racing. It really was the bassis for performance in the Chrysler organization. " You have just been past by a Chrysler 300".

well said, it's absolutely ridiculous now.and the ones doing the whining very rarely post any info.

Splitting hairs now? It doesnt matter what kind of racing, make the question about the engine, trans or any particular about it and it wont get moved. This is a Tech forum for race cars. They move stuff not directly related.

To be honest I thought it was open to all forms of racing. It just seems to me that 99% of Mopar people on here drag race. I know myself I have been into Mopar muscle cars most of my life and everyone one I know is into restorations or drag racing. I dont even know anyone into the other forms but I have no problem with them being discussed on this board. I just dont know if there will be much traffic about the other types of racing. If enough people are into other racing maybe they can have good dicusions with good info. Ron

Well you have Diablo with his pulling truck, emarine with his mud truck and boatracer572 with his boat just to name a few. I know there's a few circle track guys on here too. I think it's just that drag racing as was stated earlier is/was 99% of Chryslers performance focus.

a few questions for you
1. have ever seen a legit tech question that wasn't answered?
2. when you are a track talking to fellow racers do you go to a different area to wish them a happy birthday or talk about anything other than racing?
3. do you understand you have lost a lot of good people by this hard nosed attitude?
4. how easy is it just to skip over threads you don't care for or know it's not tech?

I like this forum just like it is. I really could care less about birthdays or who died. Thats what the general forum is for. Witch I seldom go there because of all the my dog died or my cat is sick and what can I do. ( shoot the cat and get anouther one DAH!) I WISH PEOPLE WOULD FOLLOW THE RULES!!! Thats the reason for all the post being moved because they don't belong here.

If the MODS did their job I would not be hitting the notify MOD button. LOL

Well it was stated above that there are mopar drag racers than circle track this is true. As I stated above - anybody can drive a straight line with about anything you own and be competitive.
It does cost more and take a lot more talent to own and drive a dirt tracker and be competitive. I live in a small 6500 population town with more dirt trackers than drag racers and out of this there are 3 dirt track Mopars. One with multiple year end track championships. Also have a couple of very competitive pullers involved here too. All of us are very close friends who work together to get things done. If one don't have the part at the time the other might. It is share time, knowledge, and parts no matter what the category of racing. That is the way it should be.

How is it we can congratulate AJ here on this forum but offer Kurt or Brad cograts and it get shoved to the General board. Don't say it doesn't happen.

If you want good dirt track tech go to Moparchat. They have a "circle track" section, and you'll know a few of them Don. BTW.....did you see the Duel in the Desert race in Vegas last weekend? 234 Mods. They had a live camera feed on-line with numerous angles. It was great!!! I think I'll attend next year.

Both statements... I agree.

Am a member there and in style. Both board have their good but both are very slow moving in comparison with this one.
Jay I guess that we will never get matched up again. Sold teh car and it is in the Marion area.

When can we start using vulgarity? We normally pit my 64 around 10.5, P275, turbo, and procharger guys so I learn new words weekly. Sorry, should I have posted this in General?

We're all MOPAR gear heads, life is too short to get so cranked up over incidentals. Dirt/asphalt, turn left/right, truck puller, whatever we ALL can learn from one another. Different prospectives on subjects should make you think out of the box. What racer has ever been successful at status quo?

Well it was stated above that there are mopar drag racers than circle track this is true. As I stated above - anybody can drive a straight line with about anything you own and be competitive.
It does cost more and take a lot more talent to own and drive a dirt tracker and be competitive.

These statements alone are enough to show how little you know or think of drag racers. Using your logic, how much skill would it take to go around 30 or so laps bumping into walls/other cars, and get lucky enough to get to the front? I helped out on several circle track dirt cars, none of which were high dollar or had talented drivers, but were still very competitive.

Cost more to circle track race????? On ANY given weekend I see drag race setups worth MUCH more than most circle track racers would think of spending on their cars, just to try and be competitive.

More talent to circle track race???? WOW - sounds like some of the demo derby runner-up drivers I have talked to. Drag racers get just one chance to get EVERYTHING right, not 30+ second chances. All forms of racing take special talents.

I generally love this forum for ALL of the racing type inputs, but yours is uninformed and of little or NO contribution to any race forum.

Personally, with that attitude, if you found another forum to express your views, I would be thankful.

You can go entry level drag racing with a lot less investment than you can entry level dirt tracking. I guess to make you happy that is where I was coming from. You can build into it what you want to & and spend what you want to or take any street car and be competitive in a drag race. Not so with a dirt tracker. You get your drag car built you can leave it sit between races other than a little general maintenance. With your dirt trackers you had better be ready to spend some time fixing between shows.
Been in this game since the early 60's. so don't tell me I don't know what I am talking about. If you are consistent with good reaction times and the car is consistent.
You are right it does take talent to drive a drag car and be a consistent winner but on a given day anybody that likes the hurry up and wait game can run what you brung can play at the drag strip. Bracket racing was developed for just that reason. So anybody can play at any 'income' level vehicle level, or competition level.
Been around this stuff since you could get by welding in some drives shafts for a cage and get by with it, use baling wire and tarp straps to hold things together.
And before bracket racing..
Can see you haven't been much around the dirt track or dirt track cars and or worked on them day after day.
To each there own.

Wow!! It must be winter setting in!! In the time I have been here,I have seen all sorts of racing topics. Truck pullers, boat racers and some circle track stuff. And like Quicktree said...I have never seen a legit question go unanswered..And I would also bet that around 95% of the members here drag race. My dad and I thought about a hobby stocker in 1973..It was a 56 Chevy that just needed a motor and we had a cheap 327. Went to a couple of races and the way those guys would wreck each other and get into fist fights just wasn't for us. The same holds true today! A few years back there was a big fight in the pits that ended up in a local bar. A few guys went to jail that night. My idea of racing is to have fun and enjoy myself, friends and family. Not to beat the hell out of each other, wreck cars on purpose and straighten body panels all week! To each his own..Everyone needs a hobby!

a few questions for you
1. have ever seen a legit tech question that wasn't answered?
2. when you are a track talking to fellow racers do you go to a different area to wish them a happy birthday or talk about anything other than racing?
3. do you understand you have lost a lot of good people by this hard nosed attitude?
4. how easy is it just to skip over threads you don't care for or know it's not tech?

I used to have a dirt midget. The learning curve is much steeper on a dirt track car. I would think most drivers with the proper training could jump in a 8 or 9 second drag car and be able to use 90% of the cars potential. Very few people could get in midget or 360 sprint car and able to use 50%.

I do like drag racing but it is more about the cars than driving. Drag cars are cooler/nicer than circle track cars.
Also at he end of the season you don't have a beat up, out of date, and worthless hunk of metal.

Alright guys sorry i brought it up. It did get out of hand and I apologize for it. Point being is that I have seen post on drag racing stay and the same type on Nascar or ARCA shifted to the General section. IE: NHRA qualifying stays here. And posters either rant or raves about it and puts in their own . Qualifying type or winning type posts on Cup or the like gets moved to the General section.
Another thing is all the new bests or I won a race posts in drag racing stay here.
Is this a tech forum or a bragging rights forum for new best drag race times? Sure it is nice to have a quick/fast car but without consistency good reaction times along with consistency of the car and speed wins will be few and far between. Speed isn't always the winner. You can have the fastest car out there and now win a round. Same on the circle that the fastest cars may not even get into the top 10 and it is rare that the pole sitter wins the race here either.

Maybe there are a lot more stock car racers, truck puller's,sand dune racer's,boat racer's etc.. and RACER'S of all walk's of life that would join in if they felt we were interested in what they do and what they race if they weren't tossed off into the personal problems of the General section to die a miserable death,, I personally grew up around dirt track racing and truck pulling and I still have a place in my heart for them, especially on engine building tech and the wonderful people that do it

Man you treed me. Oh some circle track racer, that took a few too many to the head, couldn't begin to understand that.

I have race in many different forms of racing. Autocross SOLO 2 was my first. Like drag racing you had only one shot to get it right. But, how hard can it be you are by yourself and there are just cones. No wall or cars to bump into. Circle track and indurance were fun also. If you were speaking about the street bracket class in drag racing I might could have some agreement to your comments. But, all out ten inch tire drag racing is where it is at baby. We drive looking through the door glasses too sometimes. And guess what we don't have that 10" wide tire on the front with sway bars to rely on. It takes pure balls and technique to get it done. Maybe your post getting moved has nothing to do with other venues of racing but, your egotistical remarks towards drag racing and the abilities of those of us who do it may have something to do with it. From your remarks about us I would imagine you wouldn't make a good splattered bug on a windsheild of a drag car.

Sounds good to me. Try it for a while and see what happens. Make it known that it exists so that people will start using it.

Gimme a break, MoPar 4 life. With these entry level dirt track deal you can get some old hammered up Omni and race it for a forty dollar purse....can't race anywhere for less. We've done that, too...see the pic.

In addition to the drag thing, which I've been doing since the sixties as well, I also spend a lot of time with dirt trackers. Even spent some time behind the wheel of a late model Dart back in the day. A lot of them are good guys, but it's more like the WWF than anything else. Arguing, fighting...it's like a soap opera. You also seem to think that working on your car to repair it as good as it was last week somehow makes one a "racer".

Just out of curiosity...you make the statement that it takes more talent to race a dirt car. Try going 8 rounds where every race is decided by miliseconds, and you're gone if you screw up.

If you want a site where all you hero worshiping NASCAR fans sit around and talk about what type of underwear that some NASCAR driver wears start your own. This is much more a hands on racer site, and there isn't many hands on Mopar circle racers. I think you'd be surprised at just how few there are. NASCAR has a lot of spectators, but most of them don't know a spark plug from a steering well, and couldn't care less.

By the way....What exactly to YOU race?

I always thought it odd that any questions or posts about road racing or handling, non-drag suspension or brakes would be moved elsewhere. A question about road racing suspension on a street car is no different than a question about a solid cam in a street car...???

Whatever. I know where to look for it now at least. For a while there it was annoying. Still, the title is confusing.
