How does one strip chrome off a part? Is it even possible? I would like to strip the chrome off my door mirrors and paint them body colour.

Someone else told my to just scuff them up real good so that the chrome isn't peeling and you can paint over it.

If it's already peeling, then its gotta come off.

Sand the shine off and then put some epoxy primer over it.

You can also powdercoat over chrome and then put paint on top of that if you want to start throwing money around.

I had some stainless trim I was trying to buff out on my 67 R/T... Just couldn't get it to shine without streaking.. My chrome shop here told me mopar has flash chromed it.. He soaked it in his dechroming tank for about 5 minutes and it really shined up after that.. You might want to have it dechromed first.... Just my 2 cents...
