my 1974 charger 318 auto car , now a 383 auto car what is the lenght of a big block auto drive shaft weld to weld ?? how close is the small block drive shaft ?? I CUT THE FACTORY ENGINE MOUNTS IN HALF , TO GET THE ENGINE IN THE CAR CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW FAR BACK THE ENGINE IS FROM THE RADIATOR SUPPORT IN A 1973 OR 74 BIGBLOCK CAR ?? OR A PICTURE OF THE LEFT SIDE CLY HEAD OVER THE STEERING BOX TO SEE HOW CLOSE I AM . THANKS

Take the trans yoke end of the shaft and push it into the trans until is stops.Pull it back out 1/2' to 3/4' and then measure from the center of the Ujoint to the center of the ujoint area in the rearend yoke, That is the correct way to measure for a driveshaft. Do it any other way and you will be having the shaft done again. That gets pretty darn expensive.
