OK, so we are up to RM21H9Exxxxx7 so far.

The VIN is the cars name, it is OK to post it, it really is.

Think of it this way, if the owner of RM21H9E999997 used Google (or any other internet search provider) to see if there was any mention of the fender tag on the WWW - he would not see;

RM21H9

LA car

VIN ends in 7.

Give the guy a chance please?

Many years ago I bought a 71 383 cuda body from a junk yard. I didn't pick it up right away. Some guy that came through there on occasion stole the tag, along with some trim, from the car. I don't know what good he thought having the tag would do him.

Maybe to keep someone from having all the numbers to do a rebody ? I have scooped up a few tags out of cars in the junkyard , one I'm glad I grabbed , it was a 70 Road runner , 440 - 6 pk car , got the tag and the broadcast sheet , a few years later I looked at a 70 RR for sale , it had the VIN from the junkyard car on it and I know it wasn't the junkyard car because it had the correct tag that matched it's body number still on the inner fender , 383 car.

Your mistake was not taking the tag off it after you paid for the car .

Question is... how big was the bucket of bolts you found them in?

He probably meant.. found it in a rust bucket...
