I just got some of the newer improved dark argent paint from Totally Auto as the old can I got from them back in the late 90s from them was a good match to my dark 71 rally wheel centers. The web site states that they have improved the paints so I had expected an even better match to the OEM dark argent. Well the new stuff sprayed better but the match was WAY off and a totally different shade than there older verson and not close to matching my rally wheel centers. The color was close (but not a match)to the Krylon paint I got locally for $2.29 . Has anyone here gotten better results from the new improved argent paints from Totally Auto ???

I shot it over grey primer and it had a greenish hue to it, so I misted it with silver... here's a during and after shot

That looks like dark argent . I wonder if PPG still has a mix formula for the DDL line. I will post what Totally Auto has to say about this issue when i call them on monday. The NEW argent paint they offer is really a step backwards .

Im not interested in selling any but I can shoot most parts with the correct nos laq as cheap as any shop would charge to try to repair/ shoot repop junk. Hell, offered a nos unopend gallon for $650, no sale, so most must be happy with the current junk.

Ive seen no repop of any kind from anyone thats the same from an oem can, the big problem is most never get to see fresh shot from the can just opened so they have no correct reference.
