dom, if the intake is leaking, the paper should be saturated on the bottom side. look at the int.valve stems to see if oil is seeping past the seals. with all those yrs of street driving and that roller cam the guides might be worn.

But then why aren`t the ex. valves oiled? The guides check out ok when George checked em.......

because the exhaust side pushes and the intake suck's,,,,,literally, intake will pull oil from any place it will seep,, exhaust wil burn it in the port if the guides let a little oil past the valve stems.

Light travels faster than the speed of sound,,,this is why some people seem bright untill you hear them speak.

On my motor, I used a valley pan from Hughes Engines( this is the thicker pan) I trimmed the pan to a 1/4 of an inch and used a bead of gray Right Stuff a long the bottom of the head and the factory mounting bar and bolts at the front and rear, let sit over night. This way I only used 1 Standard Intake gasket, never had a leak.....Matt

could it be from a poor fit ?

I`ve had it milled and the fitment seemed good with and w/out gaskets.

You checked it with a feeler gauge or a bright light yes
Gus

I did check it w/feeler gauges and it APPEARED to be good but I`ll double check it again. Lots of good points here.............thankxxx........

if the intake is the problem, Ultra Grey silicones work best but alot of valves look this way comming off stock engines, i would check the guide clearances and put new seals on the heads

Again, the guides checked out fine and we put the new blue bad ass seals on when we did the heads 8 months ago.
