Stopped at a garage sale today and saw a thumbwheel radio laying on the table. Upon closer inspection, I discovered it is an 8-track as well. I asked the guy about it and he said he took it out of his 69 Coronet in the early 80s and it worked when it was pulled. Sure enough, I brought it home and hooked it up to a battery and speaker. It's clear as a bell! Popped in an 8-track tape and it played fine for about 20 seconds and stopped. The belt inside broke. The real question is, where can I find the correct replacement belt? Either way, I paid $20 for it, and it works like a charm, and is in very good condition. Score!

Big Money Lewis had some last time this subject came up but since he has a limited supply he won't sell the belts outright.. Send in the radio for service & you'll get a new belt.....

I got one on ebay.
you can try 8 track shack also. they have a website.

rockin' the 8 tracks rule!

I have dozens of tapes, and the ones I like I have bought and respliced, new foam, etc. some of the older ones need new rollers.

I even made an IPOD to 8 track adapter by taking and ipod to cassette adapter and putting the heads in a trashed 8 track so my kids could use it too.
