I was looking over the OE Gold 1970 Duster at the Vernon, CT Chrysler Convention. This is the car restored by Mike Mancini from American Musclecar Restorations in Rhode Island. (Mike it was very nice meeting you and thank-you for taking the time to talk with me and my dad).

My question is the Duster name on the fenders. I had always believed that 1970 Dusters were basically fastback Valiants with the Duster cloud decal on the tail panel and Duster nameplates on the interior doors. The front fenders had Valiant nameplates. Yet this car has Duster script call-outs on the fenders just below the fenders. Is this more common than I am aware of? FWIW, My father bought his 1970 Duster brand new just after I was born and that car never had those decals.

I have always seen the "Duster" decals on them. Here's a pic of the Valiant line brochure with a Duster on the cover, it shows an emblem and decal on the fender.

They were supposed to get the Duster decal however I would not be a bit suprised to find examples where it got left off. For example, the 340 Dusters typically had a tail panel decal that said "Duster 340" but there are some examples where the "340" got left off (which is how non 340 Dusters were supposed to come). It's just a factory fluke when they got missed.
