Joe, the guy who bought my Duster just finished having the 422 W5 headed motor freshened and upgraded at Best Machine, then Dyno'ed here in the last couple of days.

He had went with a slighty bigger Dyayne Porter specced roller cam, about 276/284 at 50 as i recall, replaced the Mopar 4 inch crank with a Callies Dragonslayer, and replaced the old 13.3 compression CP slugs with a new set of CP pistons which he had gas ported that raised compression to 14 to 1 compression. Also had a Milidon gear drive installed.

Fifth dyno pull resulted in 702 horsepower with one blown header and he used heavy breakin oil, Guess they figured another 15 or so horsepower are likely with lighter oil and good header gaskets.

I asked Joe if he has them to send me some sheets so i can see where peak power was and how much torque it made and where in the rpm band it did so.
Anyhow, i know he was happy with the results, pretty impressive to bust 700 ponies with a W5 motor and no vacuum pump. The test will be when he eventually gets it to the track. I had always thought the motor made about 650 ish before, so a good 50-60 horsepower increase seems quite resonable. He had the car stripped and repainted while the motor was getting done, so it should be mighty cool once everything gets mated back together.

Go Joe

I kind hope that at about the 3200 pounds the car weighs with him driving it, in its current configuration, that it will easily run 9.50 on leafs and 10 inch tires.

No, it would be way slower with my big ol carcass behind the wheel.

He lives out East in Jersey.

The body shop guy has been bugging me for 2 weeks to bring it to him to paint, havent gotten a couple of minor things fixed on it yet to drive it over there. I also have bumpers ordered for it( have for over a month) but the front was on backorder when i ordered them through Mancini, supposed to make a new batch and be here around month end. So was kinda waiting for those to take over there along with the car. The bottom line is i just want it painted and back here before it begins to get nasty out, and he needs 3 weeks he said, so sometime hopefully in the next couple of weeks i will get off my butt and get it and the bumpers over there when they arrive.

If i dont sound excited, its because frankly i am not all that much. I have learned how much and old car can eat into you financially, and this Demon is a lower priority right now than some other stuff is.I am unreal happy at almost 56 years old i have finally figured that out.
BUT...it will be back and painted before cold weather sets in, i will probably get the complete interior done over the winter, and then contemplate exactly what to do powertrain wise.
Wife wants a Harley for us to ride and we have a trip planned to Sturgis next summer with a lot of friends, so that is gonna get done this spring as well. Agreeing to that was a BIG reason i got this Demon. Momma happy, everybody happy. May be summer after next before she is " done"......

In the meantime, i have to shed about 40 pounds so the VA will replace my hip. Afer i arrive at that figure, they will then put me on a waiting list that is about 6-8 month wait to get the procedure done. I have had a couple of consultations with them , last one was 2 weeks ago,in Detroit. They agreed it needs done, and will do it, just have to get the weight off and then wait to get scheduled.
