Last night, I welded in some fish plates on the rear frame rails, but tonight, I took a break from working on the chassis, and began kicking around some ideas on how to mount the 6-1/2" speakers up front. Space is extremely tight, especially on the passenger side. Cutting up my door panels was not an option. I came up with this idea, build speaker cans out of 6" PVC fittings. The wall thickness wasn't quite meaty enough for the speaker screws to bite into, so I had to glue some pieces of PVC pipe to create enough meat to support the screws. To improve the sound, I'll put some poly fill inside them. Once I roll a couple coats of black Monstaliner on them, I think they'll look pretty good.

Dave... I once went for an "easy" day of off-roading here in Calif.. my intention was just to enjoy the sun and let the kids have some 4-wheelin fun.. By no means was I prepared to do any hard core 4-wheelin... And then we came upon an innocent looking little creek that looked all of 2 feet deep.. Well, let me just say I had to throw away the amps that I mounted under the front seat... Just trying to give you something to think about..

I got some work done on the brake lines today. This is one of the last steps to be done before the tub goes back on the frame for the final time, which will happen next weekend. I've held off on painting the 14 bolt because I haven't welded the perches yet. I want to set the pinion angle and tack the perches when all of the weight of the Jeep is sitting on the suspension. Then I'll pull the axle out, weld the perches, and paint it.

We're inching along at a snails pace. To be honest, I'm really tired of seeing this frame without the body on it. I know I'll get a shot of motivation once the tub is back on the frame, but right now, I have to dig deep to get some motivation. I'm going to drop off the exhaust pipes and headers at the powdercoat shop on Friday. Yes, I said headers. I'm doing away with everything that is gray, and going with satin black on the exhaust. It'll fit better with the general color theme of red and black. Tonight, I ran the vent hoses for the 14b and the trans and t-case. As long as I don't drive into the deep end of the lake next to the mall, those drivetrain components will be safe from water intrusion.

This past weekend, I finished up all of the brake lines and hoses, except for the last 18" or so that come out of the master cylinder. Got a few things done today. - I picked up a brand new 68-76 corvette master cylinder today at O'Reilly's. This particular piece seems to be the go-to 4 wheel disc master cylinder in the wheeling world. - I placed an order for new, longer Bilstein shocks for the rear. - I dropped off the head and tail pipes at the ceramic coating shop. I hope to get them back on Friday, so I can assemble the exhaust system before the tub goes on. The tub will be set on the frame for the final time on Saturday!

Body and frame are once again reunited, for good!! I taped off and scuffed up the red painted areas underneath the rear fender flares, in preparation for black Monstaliner.  I'm glad I decided to stick with the gray for the exhaust.  Don't mind the flash rust on the axle, that was when I pressure washed everything. The 14 bolt will need to come out one last time to do the finish welding and painting.

I picked up a used hydroboost unit out of a mid 90's Chevy Astro van. Master cylinder is a new unit, for a late '70's Corvette. The adapter that mounts the h/b unit to the firewall is a U-weld kit from a seller on ebay. I'm going to make my own stainless braided teflon lined hoses, and use Aeroquip steel fittings.
