Since I'm going to paint the hood this weekend, I can finally place an order for lettering of the name of my Jeep, MAGNUM FORCE. To recap, I like that name because my engine has Magnum heads, I like Clint Eastwood movies, I'm a Mopar guy, and I like guns.
I've narrowed the font style down to these three. The bullet on choice number 3 will look more realistic.

Shorty, I already have a guy lined up to make them, but thanks anyway.

I built an apparatus to hang my hood, so I can reach all sides with the paint gun.
I christen thee..........SKY HOOK.

Finally, the hood is red! But, I've got some wet sanding and buffing to do. I've got 4 sags, two drips and a bug landing to wet sand out. Not my most stellar painting performance, by far. I had a hard time finding my "light" on the sides of the hood. Car painters will know what I'm talking about. But, its just paint, and after I get those anomalies wet sanded and buffed out, you won't even know they were there.

Eh... And what's it going to matter once you get a couple door dings here and there from the mall people.

I've been patiently waiting for you to finish this already!

The Rugged Ridge JK hood catches arrived today. They weren't designed to fit on CJ front ends, but I'm determined to make them work, because I just don't like the design of the stock CJ hood hold downs. My first impression is that these things are quite big and beefy, which is good. It means they might be wide enough to cover the existing mounting holes on the fender and on the hood. I held them up to the hood and fenders, and it appears they will cover the existing holes. In an ideal world, I would have purchased them before I painted the hood and fenders. That way, I could have mocked up everything, welded shut the unused holes, and drilled the new holes. But alas, I am an imperfect man, living in an imperfect world.

Tonight, I slathered the paint stripper on the tailgate. I wasn't going to bother removing the hinges, but I noticed a small amount of rust next to one of them. So, I broke out the impact gun and removed the bolts. Good thing I did, as there was plenty of rust under them. The only body work required is where that little red circle is. There's a tiny ding there. All of the rust will be sand blasted away Saturday morning. I hope to paint it by Sunday afternoon.

I figure its time to put a face to this craziness. So, here I am, the mad scientist behind this Jeep build.

I was in good spirits after laying down the paint very nicely on the tailgate, so I struck a pose.

I wore the red shirt so that, in case my shirt drops lint into the paint, it will at least be red lint. I wore a black T-shirt and black pants when I painted my Duster black, for the same reason.

Well, the doors are primed, block sanded and ready for paint. Only problem is, I have yard work to do, which means I won't have the time to paint them today. They will have to wait until next Saturday.

Far from it, Rick! Instead of maintaining my lawn and shrubs, I've been focused on the Jeep project. I had to do something with my yard, before my neighbors called the county on me. Then there's the green swamp in the backyard that I'm working to make blue again...
