It was a beautiful sunny day in the 70's here in Tampa today, perfect weather for painting, so I prepped and epoxy primed the PSC front bumper and my newly created rear tube fender flares.
This is the epoxy primer I used. If you are looking for a heavy bodied, industrial strength epoxy primer with outstanding adhesion properties and isn't too expensive, I highly recommend Dupont Corlar 2.1 ST. Out of the can, this stuff has an extremely high viscosity, and even after reducing it 20%, it still requires a spray gun with at least a 2.0 tip and sprayed at a minimum 50 psi. For this, I use an el cheapo $20.00 Harbor Freight spray gun with a 2.2 tip. With this gun sprayed at 50 psi, the Dupont Corlar 2.1 ST lays down with a nice subtle texture. I'm going to finish these parts with black Monstaliner.

And just in case you need a spot, you can always make a new one. Someone's just going to have to find where you put their car.

DATELINE TAMPA:
A MILESTONE HAS BEEN REACHED AT JEEPER DAVE TRAILSPORTS, A WHOLLY OWNED SUBSIDIARY OF DUSTERDAVE MOTORSPORTS.....
BODY WORK HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!!!
I spent a good part of today doing the body work on the front of the grille. As you can see, it needed a lot of attention to get it straight. Since I sanded down to bare metal on some spots, tomorrow I'm going to spray a single coat of epoxy primer, followed by several coats of high build. A final sanding with 320 grit, and this piece will be ready for paint.

New tubular fender flares mounted, waiting for their coat of black Monstaliner.

Thanks, Rick. Some aftermarket Jeep fenders have the same basic cutout, so I basically stole the idea from them. It's done to let excess engine heat escape.

As each part of the body is block sanded straight, they are shot with one final coat of epoxy primer, and two coats of high build yellow primer.

For some reason, Kate Upton wearing a peekaboo negligee comes to mind.

Thanks, Steve!

I installed the gas pedal, and trimmed and installed the Lokar throttle cable. After 2-1/2 years, I have a working gas pedal again!

The Crow 5 point safety harnesses came in today. Since the basic color theme of the Jeep is red and black, I went with black belts, black anodized hardware, and red sewn-in shoulder belt pads.

Picked up an MSD Blaster 2 ignition coil and installed it tonight, along with the finest Taiwan chrome coil bracket. I have a hankerin' to paint it black. Kinda crowded back there, and the only way it would fit comfortably was to bolt it down with a threaded spacer, along with a small flat bracket for support.
You know its getting down to the wire when I'm showing small stuff like this!

Looks great Dave. With the HOT Florida temps you may want to run that carb on a isolated spacer.

Thanks, Pete. You make a good point. However, the carb is temporary. I plan to change over to a self learning EFI setup early next year.
