Not a bunch of progress to report. I sand blasted the power steering brackets and pulley, purchased a remanned PS pump, rattle canned some paint, and bolted it to the engine. I went to the Garlits Mopar show and swap yesterday, and bought alternator brackets. I still need to decide what color to paint the valve covers. I painted and installed the steering box. CSR throttle bracket mounted. Thermostat housing is on. Bought a new Denso 120 amp alternator. Should be here in a few days.

are you planning on any color for the intake manifold...??? If so I would follow that color on the valve covers as well...????

Rick, I thought about shooting a satin clear on the intake, but I'm worried that it will eventually turn yellow from the heat. I've searched the internet to find a clear that has positive reviews about not turning yellow and being fuel resistant, and I haven't found one yet. So for now, I'm going to leave the intake as is. As for the valve covers, I might spray them the hemi orange and sand down the tops of the ribs and lettering to the bare aluminum. Like this...

Dave, I think we should've made some custom badges for the new motor on those valve covers. It's not too late. I've done a lot of different ones for customers. just a thought...

Dan, that's a nice job on the plate! As much as I'd like to brag about who built the engine, that plate is just too bling-bling for the look I'm after on my Jeep.

Dave, If you want the intake bare looking, I would suggest powder coating it. I had one done in a cast aluminum color and you can barely tell where it ends and begins. It will maintain its looks for a long time. Here is a pick of the powdercoated intake---yea, I know its a brand X but you get the idea.

^^^^^This was going to be my suggestion as well...and do the valve covers the same with the tops of the fins and lettering done in the hemi-orange...?????

My thinking as well, Rick. However, I'm sure Dan did a nice job sealing up the intake, and I don't feel like ripping it off the engine, not at this time anyway. I've got bigger fish to fry in this build. The intake will stay, but I may paint the valve covers a color that resembles natural cast aluminum and call it good.

Here is a pic showing the shortened cast trans mount with the welded plate and the factory 1985 Ramcharger trans isolator pucks (2). White PVC pipe in place to simulate the front driveshaft.

I went to work on the power steering hoses. I held on to the original hoses, in hopes I might be able to re-use them. Once the steering box and pump were installed for the last time, it quickly became evident that they weren't even close to being able to work, so I hacked up the high pressure hose to the point where it connected A to B, and looked and fit decent. I then took my hose mock-up over to Amazon Hose, where they made a hose that matched the lengths, bends and angles. I got lucky, it fit perfect. The low pressure return hose was easier, I just kept cutting until it fit nice.

I've been playing with this new Denso 120 amp alternator, trying to figure out the best location. The problem is, its a large alternator. The front to back dimension is much bigger than the old 70's Chrysler alternators, and that causes the back of it to hit the end of the cylinder head when trying to line up the pulleys. This seems to be the best spot for it. I had to lengthen the stock adjustment arm. The factory triangle shaped plate was useless. Right now, the pivot bolt is attached to a quick and simple plate, just for mock up. I'm going to fab a bracket that will bolt to 3 of the tapped holes in the head, and it will rigidly secure the front and rear of the pivot bolt. But, since I have the in-laws over my house for the next few days, said fabrication will have to wait. In the meantime, some pics.
