Yep, 15 miles NW of Tallahassee. I thought about the shipping cost but I guess it would still be cheaper than the gas. Might couple it with a trip to Ocala or Old Town. I'll contact you directly and let the thread stay on topic.

Thanks Dave for the intro to Dan. Sorry for the mini jacking.

No problem, Kevin. And, you're welcome.

Dave,
i really, really like that color blue. great choice. i don't see many jeeps that color but the copper is all too common.

Kevin, let me know if there's anything we can help you with and thanks for the compliments along the way.

Thanks, Dan. Great minds think alike. I have a strange feeling that copper will be a fad color, kind of like green was in the 1970's. I don't know why this blue is so uncommon. I guess the factory figured most people wanted red, green or black Jeeps.

Dave,
i'll see if i can post some pics later, but your block was bored and honed today, ran through the jet washer, brushed, scrubbed, etc. tomorrow we start the process of caging bearings and getting on with the build. shouldn't be long now.

in this picture you'll notice i've checked the box to show the actual difference of the bores locations from the blueprint specs. these bores are incredibly close. someone at Chrysler did a fantastic job on this block.

Good stuff, Dan! Man, we saw one extreme to the other with two engine blocks!
I have a question...remember how the ARP main bolts didn't fit the first block? Do they fit this block correctly? I'm only asking because the main bolts in the picture appear to be the old bolts.

No, they didn't fit this one either. the bolt holes in the block aren't deep enough, and even if they were the last thread of the bolt would be at the first thred of the block, even with the washer in place.
i think with all things considered, the stock bolts will handle the job just fine. i have a 340 and 2 360 blocks sitting here i'm working on and those caps are taller than those of the 318 block.

Long way from a grease monkey!

What did you think the 346 was for? I have other stuff too, including a 84 CJ I mentioned earlier, 360 NP435 and doing the Toyota axles.

not too much to add here today. here's a picture of the clearance notch needed at the bottom of the cylinders for connecting rod clearance.
aside from that, all the bearing oil clearances are adjusted and all the mock up work is done. one last cleaning and then the final assembly begins.
