Everything is fine, and thanks for asking. Not a whole 'lot of progress made on the Jeep. I made these shock hoop supports, and mounted the electric fuel pump, but that's about it.



About that thing sitting on top of the fuel cell. I'm making a filler top that will be compatible with the factory filler and vent hoses. The larger nipple is where the actual gas goes through, and the smaller one is for venting the cell.
The next big piece of the Jeep puzzle is the engine. In early June, I'm going to load all of the engine parts I've collected into my pickup, and drive down to see Dan at Performance Only.

Glad to hear all is well. Every bit of progress gets oyu a little closer. I'm in the middle of a winch install picked up a new used 8274 off e-bay last week. I'm putting power at both ends with Anderson quick connectors, if you have given it any thoughts run the cables while you are looking at the frame, easy to drill anchor holes.

Looking forward to the engine post.

Pardon my ignorance, but why would I need or want power at both ends for the winch?

A good winch being expensive, most folks don't want to buy 2, so you run power to both ends, mount the winch to a receiver plate and use heavy Andersons or something like it for the connection and then you have a portable winch that can be carried front to rear if necessary. The other advantage of course is that it is not just limited to one vehicle, you can have a set of jumper cables with the connectors for easy jumps, you can have a set of battery cables on a connector so it could be used with an extra battery in the back of a truck or on a trailer, lots of different possibility with the purchase of just one winch. Maybe I will start a thread on it since I have a few questions.

Yes, start a thread, I've got more questions on that subject. Your explanation was good, but if you could also add some pics to go along with it in your thread, that would really help. And you're right, a good winch is very expensive.

Another small update: just placed an order for the KB Icon .030 over dished pistons. They should give me about 9.4:1 compression, perfect for cruising the mall parking lots on a hot Florida summer evening.

The next push in this adventure is the fun part....the engine! My Icon pistons arrived today. CNC-Motorsports has BY FAR the best pricing on them. I also have an MP rear sump pan and a Pro/Race harmonic damper on the way. I'm gathering up parts in preparation for my journey in a couple weeks to the Mopar horsepower mecca, Performance Only.
Starting tomorrow, I'm going to set the block, heads, trans and transfer case between the frame rails, and begin building the exhaust system. I already have the Patriot block hugger headers, and a Flowmaster Y-pipe. 2-1/2" pipes will snake their way from the headers to the Y-pipe, and then merge into a single 3-1/2" pipe, which will connect to a Hooker AeroChamber muffler with 3-1/2" inlet and outlet. Exiting the muffler, I might reduce it down to a 3" tail pipe, just to make packaging a little easier. If I have the room though, I'll keep it 3-1/2" to the end.

Because I'm not looking for max power from the engine, and routing a large single exhaust system on the passenger side will be easier to build. Keep in mind, I've got the front driveshaft, transfer case, the fuel line and brake lines to content with on the driver's side. I'm not saying its impossible to do, I just don't think duals are worth it on this type of vehicle. Besides, I'm confident that I'm going to nearly triple the horsepower that this Jeep originally came with from the factory.

No doubt you wont hurt for power amd I figured is was a routing issue but didn't know if there was thought of low end torque involved. I have duals on the CJ everything on the passenger side, 2.5 head pipe to flow masters and then 2.25 out the side at the very rear corner of the tub. It it s currrently running manifolds but I have a set of Hedman Elite inside frame headers on back order that they claim fits fine so we'll see. I lot of folks think that you cant run them on a CJ but it's not even really close anywhere. Not sure at all about a YJ aren't there frames wider? I the tubs are pretty much the same dimensions.

Yes, the YJ frame is a little wider.
One of the reasons I decided on a large single exhaust was the fact that I would need to find room for just one muffler. I have a traction/ladder bar on the passenger side, and that would make fitting 2 mufflers a real challenge.
What engine do you have in your CJ?

AMC 360, it was in it when we got it and runs like a champ. When we did the bottom of the tub I pulled it apart to fix a T-cover leak and it has an Edelbrock performer cam, a tru-roller and flat top pistons best I can tell. Everything looked incredible fresh so I let it be. I would have really liked an excuse to go Chrysler power but kinda like the AMC power in a Jeep.

Looks good. The AMC V-8 is a good choice for a CJ. It's period-correct. And, at least it's not a smallblock Chevy, like so many other Jeep guys convert to. Is it a stick or auto?

Running a NP435 out of a 78 F-250, Novak output and adaptor hooked to a Dana 300 (I think the original). Had an 11 inch clutch built for it with 240 lb springs, all new clutch linkage.

May I suggest a different air cleaner. Those triangle ones will sift fine dust through them into the carb.

Yep, I need to lose it, I just keep thinking I am gonna build a deep water cleaner so I haven't sepnt the dime. I need a set of cool AMC cover and then can get a cleaner to match for now. Anybody got a set of covers????

Yea, pretty much tractor like even in high, put in low range and it moves like a snail using a walker. 6.68 ratio, we like it.
