Very cool, you sure you don't want a expenses paid trip to Quincy, Florida. Just a days worth of welding and I promise to feed you good. And maybe even show you some cool junk.

Looks good so far! Just curious, you are going to be using some sort of isolation/vibration bushing under the transmission tail housing stand off correct? I only ask since I see you are using rubber isolators at the engine mounts. Again, looking good

Thanks. I haven't decided what I'm going to do about that. I did a lot of work to the skid plate to lower the trans, so I don't want to put something under it that raise it much. One idea I have, is to mount the trans solid to the skid plate, and put rubber donut isolators at each skid plate mounting point, of which there are six.

If I was retired, I might take you up on that. Unfortunately, I'm still a working stiff.

Working for a living is overrated. You should give it up.
They take 95% of your earnings in taxes and now they are gonna give you health care so what's the point!
Gonna do Old Town the end of March, a friend of mine from Illinios is taking his family to Disney and we are gonna go down and meet them. We may go to Suncoast on Friday you oughta come up, I'll buy you dinner.

Well, I decided to say goodbye to the square eyes. I've always liked the round headlights over the squares. To me, they represent the classic, iconic Jeep look. Today, I picked up a CJ7 grill and CJ7 fenders. The seller had a hood to complete the conversion, but it was in too bad a shape. These pieces have a fair amount of surface rust, but they are straight and solid. After sandblasting, these parts will look much nicer. As you can see in the pic, I'm in need of a headlight bucket(hint, hint).

Now your talking. There was supposedly a good hood in my area for sale cheap, I will try to track it down next week and see if it can be had right, then we will have to figure out how to get it to you. I may also be able to find something on the headlight bucket, you might check to see if it is a common GM/Ford piece like so many other CJ parts.

I've made more progress this weekend. I got the CJ7 fenders and grill back from the sandblaster's. They did a great job removing all of the rust and paint. I sprayed them with 2 coats of 2 part epoxy primer, followed by 2 coats of high build primer. Look at the before shot above, and compare with this one. I also located and purchased a CJ7 hood. It's in rough shape, but fixable. It's currently at the blaster's, and it should be ready to pick up tomorrow. It will receive the same priming treatment tomorrow night. Also, today I just won an ebay auction on a set of half doors. They appear to be in awesome, rust free condition, plus they come with side view mirrors, which is one less thing I have to buy.

Dave, I hate to ask but I will, do you still have the info on the place that you were gonna have dip your frame. I boxed a 48 Chevy frame that I think I want to have dipped and treated. Did you ever get a quote and what did it include, ie dipped, treated, coated, etc.
Thanks, Kevin

I contacted them, and they said they only deal with commercial accounts, not individuals. I'm going to spray my frame with an industrial strength, 2 part epoxy primer that is typically used on offshore oil drilling platforms. I purchased a couple of cans of Eastwood's Internal Frame Coating, to take care of the insides of the frame rails. When I get done with it, that frame will remain rust-free for the next 50 years, at least! Here's a pic of the CJ-7 front end pieces. You can see some holes here and there on the hood from rust rot. I'm going to start welding/patching the holes this weekend.

Looking good, I went and looked at that CJ stash I was talking about last week, picked up a few things, nothing big. There was a hood but it had issues and since we are so far apart I let it stay there. Still looking for a headlight bucket but nothing yet. Sounds like you got your frame figured out, but I was move asking for the 48 I'm involved in. Depending on what they call commercial, we should qualify. Havana Hotrods. All i can do is ask and all they can do is say NO. http://havanahotrods.com/htm/48chevy.htmSorry to clutter the sight Cheby stuff, but it's mostly my brother's doings.
