Yeah, I noticed the tire treads looked totally clean! It's as if you had it air lifted to that spot via helicopter! You bought it at a great price. New Jeeps today go for more than double that amount.
It was the cheapest model you could buy at the time.....Sport 4-banger 5-speed w/zero options
Had only 37k on the clock when I let it go

Got some work done this weekend on the Jeep. The 727 4x4 trans has a tall and quite beefy cast-in mount on the shorty tailstock. The tallness of it was positioning the transfer case higher than I liked. So, I did some modifications to the skid plate, in an effort to lower the t-case, which in turn, improves both the front and rear driveshaft angles. I also made a pair of 1" thick skid plate spacers. The total result is a 2.25" drop at the trans mount. Saturday, I visited Moparts member "scratchinfotraction". He sold me a smallblock power steering setup that I was needing for the 318. Actually, he was kind enough to offer it to me for free. It was a very nice gesture, especially since we had never met before, but I had to do the right thing. Mike's a nice guy, and a cool cat. He's got a lot of great stories, especially about his buddy named Ace! The PS setup was complete, except for a triangular bracket. It was a simple piece, so I made one out of 3/16" steel plate. I made some cardboard templates of the engine mount brackets. I've transferred them to a piece of 3/16" thick steel plate. Tomorrow night, I'll cut them out with the plasma cutter. My front shock hoops are on the way, should be here by mid week. I need to cut out the old shock mounts that you see in the pic.

Thanks. Just enough skills to be dangerous. I'm a little embarrassed at the nasty, long weld on that skid plate drop section. My welder wasn't feeding wire in a consistent manner, and was basically creating a sputtering weld bead. I opened the side of the welding machine, and saw that it was just about out of wire. Threw a new roll on, and I was back in business. Once I get the engine mount brackets welded on, I need to turn my attention to building an anti-wrap ladder bar setup.

Looks like crap, don't know why you wasted your time. I will be down tomorrow to get that eye sore out of your way, wont even charge you to haul it off cause that's the kinda guy I am. AND since you will know have no use for all that stroker stuff I can put it in the back of my truck to save you the trouble of hauling it off, you'll have to load it though, I cant be expected to do everything! OK, so I'm on crack. It looks great and I assume slide in and out of the mounts perfectly.

Is the ladder crossmember gonna hang any lower than the factory crossmember? Your welding blows me away.

Thanks guys, but I'm really just a hack welder. I need to work on making consistently nice welds. I recently switched to .025 wire, and that has made a big improvement in the quality of my welds. Lots of practice has helped, too. scratchnfotraction, no, I bought the ladder bar brackets. I was going to make my own, but when I saw that Applied Racing (ART), which is close to where I work, sells them for less than $10.00 a piece, I didn't see any benefit to making them. And, just in case someone got the wrong idea, I bought the shock hoops, too. If I had access to a bender, I would have made them. I picked up the final bits of hardware to make my anti-axle-windup ladder bar. The round thing is a flex joint, also known as a Johnny Joint. It will be welded to the front of the ladder bar.

JMO but .025 is to small for frame work and such I was told by a cert. welder when I started my cage not to use any thing smaller than .030 and he would have preferred .035.
