I had the tubes bent for me and then cut and fitted them and tacked them in place. As far as the front legs if that is what you are asking, they mount through the floor and will be tied to the frame. 1/4 inch plate as a foot on top of the tub, 1/4 plate in the bottom of the tub welded to a bar with a bushing mount to a bracket on the frame. The center and rear post will also be tied in. I thought about grab handles but will use the soft ones to avoid clearance issues and knots on the head.  The dash bar and the overhead spreaders are positioned well for it although I have concerns with the overhead as a handle. Like everything else it is an evolution so who knows what it will look like in 6 months. Someone has also suggested that the seats be tied in, but I'm not sure I'm sold on that yet. Hopefully my rear bars will be done in the next hour or so, I need to keep moving. Blasted the rough area in the tub yesterday, I'm gonna make one repair under the bar and then line it. My goal is to be back together by Sunday when I fly out.

Well I got my rear bars bent and I was in the process of cutting them to fit and my bar jig arbor broke so I'm dead in the water on that part. I am going to get the front welded up tomorrow and will put it in as is and then fit the rear and weld it when I get the replacement arbor. Bummer, but there is plenty more to do this week.

Did some more work on the frame. Fabbed and welded in a body mount crossmember and two body mount brackets, shown in the foreground. Except for the new motor mounts and painting it, that should be it for the frame work. I think I'm going to spray the frame and axles single stage gunmetal gray.  I've made up my mind on the wheel and tire combo. For tires, I'm going with Nitto Trail Grapplers in 37x12.50R17. They will be mounted on Pro Comp Series 98's in size 17x9 with a 3.5" backspace. These wheels are basically the same as Cragar Soft 8's.
Gone to the dark side with an LS3 powered '57 Chevy 210

That's awesome, you do phenominal work. my welding is questionable, I took the cage to a pro to ensure penetration. Here is some of what we did over the Thanksgiving week, my son sprayed it himself, he just turned 18. Hope you don't mind.

Thanks. No biggie, just a piece of 2x2 and some 1" tubing, and lots of measuring. That's a nice job on the tub! I plan to cover the underside and the inside of my tub with Monstaliner.
Stay tuned. I'll have a rolling frame by the end of the month.

Spent my Sunday cleaning and prepping the Dana 44 front axle. I sprayed it down multiple times with purple degreaser, and blasted it with my pressure washer. After that, I cut off all of the brackets, and ground the axles tubes smooth. I would have removed all of the outer parts, but my efforts came to a screeching halt when I saw an inner spindle nut that requires a special tool to remove it. Found one online and ordered it.  My tires are on the way, should be here Wednesday. I bought Nitto Trail Grapplers, size 37x12.50R17. If any of you truck guys are looking for the best price on tires, check out discounttiredirect.com. I did a ton of internet surfing for tires, and they have the absolute best prices. I ran into a road block with the wheels. The ones I wanted are on national back order, with at least a 10 week wait. The sticking point is that I want a wheel with less than 4" backspace, 3.50" would be ideal. The only other wheel I can find that fits my size needs are Allied RT51 beadlocks, which are more than what I want to spend. I would rather not use wheel spacers, not to mention they cost $200 by themselves. I need to consider my options some more.

I've been so focused on the big stuff, my mind hasn't drilled down to the finer stuff like that, yet. I'm sure I'll be replacing those straps with u-bolts. I'm building the 390 into a torque monster, so those kinds of drivetrain reliability improvements will be needed.
OK, I made an executive decision. Here is the wheel I've chosen for my unlimited mall crawler.

I blame Rickster for planting the mall crawler image in my head. Glad it wont be a poser, but it will be a shame to scratch up them pretty wheels.
Building an outside rotisserie for the CJ tub, gonna line the belly over Christmas. I post some pictures when I get it set up.
Instead of Mall Crawler, I prefer the term "Tactical Urban Assault Vehicle".
The wall o' rubber arrived today.
While looking them over, I discovered something interesting about them. See the middle tires, and how much blacker they are than the outer tires? Each sidewall of the tire is different, in terms of side biter design and font style for "Trail Grappler M/T. The darker sidewall has capitalized, simple font style with flat side biter blocks, while the lighter colored sidewall has a more aggressive, stylized font and ribbed side biter blocks.

I should have been more clear in my description. Each tire has one sidewall one way, and the other sidewall a different way. All of the tires are the same. It just gives you a choice on which sidewall you want facing out. Personally, I don't care that much what the sidewall looks like, just never seen that on a tire before.

Ahhh, like raised white letters on one side and black wall on the other. As far as the color/brighten difference that may clean up or even out with a coating or two of tire dressing or Armor All, but please wipe it all off before you hit the road, it just wouldn't look right on a Jeep.
