You can do it, it's not that hard to do.
Gary, No problem, I 100% completly agree.
But they can be time consuming and the original laquer suede paint is not that easy to get in some locations of the country.

Yes getting all the new parts is the tricky part and the correct paint. You are sitting pretty as far as the paint goes, huh?
Nice job on the coluum above.

Not that I'm aware of. Taking LOTS of Pictures during dis-assembly is a must if your not familiar with columns. A service manual would be nice if your not. Just be carefull as the factory service manuals can be somewhat generik and/or lacking on some details. I've done several of my own as well as customers and like mentioned, they are not hard, just more time consuming than you might think .
As an example there is just over 7.5 hours in the above column start to finish. Plating on the lockout tube was about $75, switches are almost $175 for the 2 . One pint of paint and thinner was almost $100 , not incuding primer. It'll add up quicker than one might think

I found the pricing to be exactly this and my time on the two '70 columns I did were the same at an average of 7-8 hrs each. Jules the Wiper man restores columns and while his price may surprise you at first... it is in line with reality and we all know he does great work.

Not to bash SMS, but since the resto portion of the business was sold a few years ago, they don't have the same expertise. They are not Mopar guys now, and are learning as they go. I had spots by them in Carlisle for a few years and "educated" them on their Mopars. For exapmle, they had a Challenger they were trying to sell and knew NOTHING about it. Heck, I was behind them for three years and they never got my name right no matter how many times I corrected them.

Contrary to the opinions of some, I am not dumber than I look.

I redid mine by simply using the FSM. Was much easier than I expected and I put the whole thing back together by memory. I think!!
