Looks great. Holley added a ton of new features to this new line of carbs. There are so many new features I'm not going to bother trying to list them all. I like the AN fittings for the bowl and the dual bolt pattern. Adjustable throttle linkage is also cool as is the idle air bypass. Not sure about the bowl drain but I'll try it and see if I like it. The double sight glasses are a nice touch.

I'll get this carb on the dyno in the next few days and see how she compares to a Dominator. My guess is that this one will make pretty good power on my 514 motor. This is the biggest 4150 that I've ever seen. There is almost no venturi shape at all, it is almost a straight shot right down the throttle bores.

Holley is really making a great comeback, nice to see a true american company staying alive, The customer service is great too.

Have you dyno'd the motor with the older stock 950, be interesting to see the difference.

I gather this is not a "one size fits all" right?
But maybe the throttle bores are a true bigger size then current bores and some real flow numbers can be had. If it is truly a much better design than maybe some custom carb shops will use it as the baseline piece to make their 1000 CFM and above units.
I can't wait to hear what CFMs you find under its belly.

That's what I was thinking. Also the cost...

IIRC, the new 950 has a 1.59" venturi, compared to the 1.56" of the new 850 version of the same carb. Yeah, that's big, especially for a downleg booster.

Can you provide a top-view shot of the venturi?

I don't think I'll bother doing a comparison with the Holley 950 HP. The 950 HP was a 1.375 venturi which is actually a fairly small carb. This new 950 is a 1.60 venturi which is very large.

The closest carb to this is what was called the 1000 HP. Those had a 1.56 venturi. I've run the 1000 HP on a lot of combinations and they make pretty good power on the dyno.

I'm just going to compare this 950 to my 1150 Dominator and see how it stacks up. I'm sure it will be down on power a little bit due to the 4150 bore spacing but that is to be expected.

The key point is that if you need a big carb, and you are limited to a 4150 bolt pattern for some reason, then this is the biggest 4150 that Holley as ever made.

The linkage can be set for 1:1 operation. Also notice the sight glass on linkage side of the bowl and the bowl drain.

Right, this is not a "one size fits all" type of carb. The 950 HP is a good street/strip carb but I don't think a person would want to put this 950 on a street car unless they are running a really large engine.

I use a 1.375 carb on my street 512. I wouldn't run this 1.60 carb on anything smaller than a 572 on the street. It is a race carb, not a street carb.

Andy, got an underside shot of the base?
I'd like to see that dual bolt pattern
Also I assume these still have the 1.750" throttle bore?

Wish my junk was running again so I could some different carbs, instead of just pretty pictures of them.

Andy, I see that its a 2 circuit carb... I wonder
how it will be in a cruise aspect(most Holley's tend
to run fat at cruise)

So what would you recommend for a 526" RB stroker primarily street car.

Also, isn't this the carb that got some mention in your book ???

Gasket picture. This gasket came in the box from Holley. I couldn't find a part number on their website. No idea if they have a four hole version of it or not. I sent them an email but haven't heard back yet.

Yep, bore size is still 1.75.

I'm working on a 4500 to 4150 adapter plate. These new carbs will bolt directly on to a 4500 intake, but some 4500 intakes have a big plenum and the carb base isn't quite big enough to cover it. I'm sure we'll see some new products to solve that problem in the near future.
