I have been searching for a clutch for a few weeks now, some info has been attained through this site.

Here is what i have
543 stroker
10.1-1 compression
victor ported heads
big com roller cam 680ish lift- 290ish duration
1050 dominator
victor intake
3 different sets of headers ranging from 1 7/8"- 2"- 2 1/4"
68 barracuda all steel minus hood and bumpers
rear end is 8 3/4 with either 3.23 or 3.91 (have both posi chunks) with a dana 60 being built with 3.54's and a spool

I have a 18 spline a body trans with lake wood bellhousing.
I am looking at 3 different clutch setups. All claim they will hold 800+ ftlb's
All also claim they will work great on the street or track.
I will be driving on the street a lot, but also want it to perform on the track

the choices are mcleod, ram, or american performance (science friction)
all run close to the same price
I will also be using a hydraulic throwout bearing setup for ease of installation and easy street use.

Has anyone ran a hydraulic setup on the street or strip? does it engage fast enough for quick shifts?
I have called each manufacturer and talked with their techs, all claim great things about their product so i would like some real world first hand experience opinions. I will be spending close to 2000 on the clutch and flywheel and throwout setup and driveshaft so i want to make the right choice. thanks guys.

Have you looked into Centerforce, I really liked the street/strip disc. i ran, but they make others that can handle some power.

Probably the MC Soft-Loc would work. You have to get into a sintered iron disc with a adjustable pp at the torque and hp you're making. That way you can "tune" the clutch to handle the torque without breaking parts all of the time.

I really would call Tim Hyatt or Rob at Advanced Clutches as they are two of the best clutch guys around.
