Well after washing the rings out of 2 motor I figured it was time to tune my carb. I bought a wideband and went to work.
Here's my combo:
493 with Indy-1 heads (around 730hp)
266/271@50 cam /.680 lift 112 lobe sep
11.7:1 compression
4500 stall
4.10 gear
3800lb car
here's what Ihad to due to my Pro-systems 1100 cfm dominator:
main jet 77/ sec jet 92...PVCR .0935...PV 4.5...idle feed .035
transfer slot jets .063...HSAB .029...IAB.076...Int air bleed not used...Intermediate circuit blocked...37 squiters...Idle screw 2 turns out...timing locked at 36.
Idle 15:1 afr
cruise below 2500rpm 14.7-15 afr
cruise above 2500rpm 14.2-14.7 afr
WOT 12.5-13 afr
The car runs and drives perfectly now. The bast part is I will never foul a plug again, or wash the rings out of my motor again
So those of you with a similar combo and running with the dominator might try this.

Was or is this carb. a original Holley Dominator that they modified or a new unit they built from scratch and sold to you?The reason I'm asking is I have several Holley Dominator 1050 and one Holley 1150 domintator, the 1050s did not come with power valves and the 1150 did I have been street testing two of the 1050 two circuit carbs and they idle fine(14.8 to 16.1 AFR depending on how I set the idle mixtures) but run real rich at part throttle, 11.2 to 11.8 I do have one 1050 Dominator that has been converted to a three circuit along with annular boosters, it runs a tiny bit leaner at part throttle(12.0 to 12.3 AF) but no where near as lean as I would like, so far It has 76 jets and 35 squirters with no power valves, it runs right at 11.8 to 12.0 at WOT and starts to get fatter above 5500 RPM

Your engine and carb ended up real close to my combo. I had to block the intermediate circuit and go huge on the PVCRs, too.

I have had the Dominator on the car for a couple of years now and the only issue I have with it is that it idles and cruises on the same circuit. Which means that when I have the cruise dialed in, the idle is a bit lean in gear. When I richen up the idle enough to stabilize it, the cruise is a little rich.

But the mid-range is fantastic compared to 4150s. I even added a vacuum port for the distibutor. I can get 11 MPG or so.

Master, again and still

I have a similar combo only stage VI heads, 12.5-1 comp. around 650HP. 1050 dominator. I have 91 mains in the front and 92 in the rear. I have never tried anything else. The plugs look like they are really clean. so I havent tried changing anything. I mainly race it but I do take it out and drive it around a little bit.

The carb was a custom dominator from Pro-systems with a street tune on it. Still ran rich as hell. Patricks just loves that 3rd circuit and refuses to give it up. I will use the 3rd circuit for the track only since it helps when on the T-brake. Useless for the street IMHO.
To fix your rich cruise you are going to need transfer slot restrictors and a PV. For the TSR you will need to drill and tap the main body for 10-32 brass set screws. You can then drill them. These will control fuel up to about 2300rpm. Then you need to jet down your primaries so your cruise is right above 2300rpm. Once that is done you drill your PVCRs to get square jetting at WOT. For every .003 they are opened it adds 2 jet sizes.
Takes a lot of trial and error. Took me 2 tanks of gas to get it right.

Wow thats close to my new 493. I have Indy EZ heads and a flat tappet of 264-270 @ .050 with .634 lift using 1.6 rockers and 10.6 comp as it is a 92 pump eng with good quench. I know my carb is to small as all I have is my 850 DP with 78's and 86's and a 3.5 P/V. But it really drives and runs great with this carb and I feel it would be faster with more carb. I just love the street driveability of the 850 as it never lugs at all. I plan to race it the first time on this carb just to see how it does. I would love to try your Dominator. I only built mine looking for 600 to 650 hp. Ron

so just wondering what exhaust you have on your car? Where is your wideband installed? I was about to start tuning my dommy with my lc-1 wideband, but the 727 gave up the ghost. I was wondering how good it would be in the collector, since i do NOT have a crossover at all. Do you? also do u have any exhaust leaks? I know they will toss your afr's way off. just asking.

My car has full exhaust. I put the O2 sensor about 3" downstream of where the exhasut bolts on to the header. I use one sensor and just swap from side to side. I have no exhasut leaks.
I can definitely say that I know about 1000% more about tuning carbs then I did 2 weeks ago. . The Innovate site forum helped a lot, and so did Patrick from Pro-systems.

Thanks for the help, information is power I may put the 4150 intake and 850 D.P. on it for the rest of the year,my car ran several 10.03 and 10.04 in the heat and high humidity in July at the Woodburn Mopar, it is not legal for faster than 9.99 ET, it also ran 133.45 MPH on the same runs so I might face having to leave the track if it runs to quick or to fast I have several 1050 Dominators, two three circuit HP and one early 1050 that has been converted to three circuits with annular boosters as well as two two circuits, none of them run worth a hoot(11.3 to 11.8 AFR) at part throttle below 2500 RPM according to the wideban they are great at WOT and on the idle, the middle is the part that has me stymied with no power valve.Thhanks again, I'll look at the transition circuits
